Good learning experience, made good bonds and memories, but could be better in terms of training and workload.
The good thingsMade some really great friends and being able to trauma bond with coworkers. Really taught some good life lessons and skills, but was taught as I worked.
The challengesSo much.... Young girls are forced to pierce without sufficient training (not even basic first aid), Safety concerns with stealing and aggressive customers at times, sometimes there isn't even a manager to support and to help. Had some bad manager experiences but management changed within the last year and that has lessened the work stress now. Also, they expect a lot from the employee, especially basically having no social life and dedicating all your time to the company as a part-time worker and not being sufficient.

You learn as you work, however management constantly wondered off, cancelled meetings and teenagers were left to work alone.
The good thingsLovisa is a beautiful place to work. I gained necessary skills in customer service, stock replenishment and stocktake.
The challengesBeing left alone in the store, managers wondering off and not answering calls. I was underpaid, devalued and felt like I had no purpose in the end.

Have loved getting retail experience working at Lovisa but can also have some challenges. It is a good starting point if wanting to get further into retail but wouldn’t recommend it for longtime.
The good thingsLearning new things and getting the chance to learn how to pierce
The challengesHaving to work overtime to ensure the store is in perfect condition, sometimes we would go an hour over. Very strict on excellent customer service and can be quite overwhelming.

Terrible experience The working environment is toxic & nobody cares. They won't give you proper training before providing the responsibilities. Managers & Regionals are not well supportive. They only care about money & not about employee well-being. They are always short staffed & make issues when you ask for sick leave or annual leave. This is just an overrated company with low quality jewelleries. Their products are not value for money. Overall, very unsatisfactory experience working here.

No wonder they have a class action lawsuit.
The good thingsStaff Discount 50% off full price items only.
The challengesSaw many challenges in this role. Cruel Manager. Always being asked to work in different stores and location even if it was 1 hour away. Working on your own during busy periods like Sunday. Having to work late nights and early mornings (7am starts) for new launches. Challenging customers/Theft.

Worst job ever. Don't work here unless you're a manager
The good things50% discount and making great friends
The challengesoverworked, they don't respect your boundaries, toxic upper management. From loving the job to hating it because of the toxic environment and the constant power tripping and really bad scheduling such as the 7am starts.

Management is super mean and do not care about you at all as a worker…
The good thingsNot much good to be honest, I was one of the lucky ones because I was only a Christmas casual
The challengesTo tell it shortly, management is mean and they will name and SHAME you if you don’t hit a certain amount of sales or do something in a certain way. Constructive criticism doesn’t exist to them, it’s only ever CRITICISM and putting you on blast in their whattsapp groupchats.

I’d advise not to work for this “brand”
The good thingsSome of the friendships I made from my store.
The challengesOverworked and not paid overtime, double standards, unrealistic KPIs and targets, they basically set you up to fail. They fail to pay SM monthly bonus when budgets made, and give little to no support with store visits for regional stores. No proper breaks, no toilet break. Weekly wage is never right

    Uncaring towards workers
The good thingsThe coworkers, the 50% discount on non sale products.
The challengesUpper management, disregard for the health of employees, overworked. The uniform is difficult to adhere to, with no allowance. Horrible.

Wouldn’t recommend working here if you value your mental health; especially if you are going for a manager role.
The good thingsThe customers were always nice and complimented my service (this is for a reason as you don’t see this often at this place) and most of the co workers are cool.
The challengesThe micromanaging is insane! They set unrealistic expectations to completing task and if you don’t finish in that set time you are made to abandon the task to move on to something else. Management is so toxic and nasty that I even had a customer come up to my store manager as I was being talked to about my bad performance that state how disgusted she was about hearing this conversation being held in the store, in front of customers and team members. I haven’t had my anxiety or depression work up this badly in a decade before I got on anxiety meds or diagnosed with depression!

Your mental health deteriorates while working for this company. There is no support from your managers.
The good thingsDressing up for work
The challengesHigher managers were not compassionate through hard moments Weren't able to take leave. If you started early you never got paid for it Finishing late you never got paid for it

    It was awful.
The good thingsThe only good thing is the staff discount and occasionally good co workers
The challengesYou're incredibly under paid ($12.50 an hour for 16 year olds). Management is awful and multiple people would resign every week if not, every month. You will be paid minimum wage while being given tasks that only managers should do.

The role I worked in was fun, the management drove me away.
The good thingsThe only benefits were helping style customers, working in the jewelry business and the discount.
The challengesManagement was consistently inappropriate and unprofessional to the extent that I left due to the manager and uneccessary work-place drama. The regional manager also didn't take my genuine concerns about the store's management seriously and I don't believe she properly executed an investigation into what was happening in that store.

Completely Stressful For No Good Reason
The good thingsI learnt a lot of useful skills.
The challengesToo many high expectations. If you did not hit KPI's expected of you, your shifts would be lessened. Expected workers to still work with COVID-19. Would tell you to do one task, then complain that you did the task they told you to do because you were not doing another task they expected you to be doing.

The good thingsstaff discount, good co workers,
The challengesterrible management, like seriously TERRIBLE. They roster you on outside availability and have the 'find a cover or be there for your shift' attitude. There is also so much micromanaging and constant negative comments.

Working at Lovisa has stressed me out a lot.
The good things50% discount on jewellery, customers can be very kind and are usually lovely to speak with. It’s my favourite part of the job
The challengesThe work load can be intense and sale goals are extremely stressful to hit, especially in a store that isn’t busy. I was not trained properly so I’m trying to learn how to perfectly complete open and close tasks by myself after being thrown into them 2 weeks after I started working. Upper management seem very condescending and uninterested, too. The expectations they put onto you are intense and if they aren’t met, you’ll absolutely hear about it. I’m desperately trying to find a new workplace because of how stressful this job is.

    Absolutely terrible
The good thingsCreated such amazing lifelong friends
The challengesThe most toxic place I have ever worked. Higher-up management was absolutely terrible. They did not care about you; they only cared about selling a thousand add-ons. One time someone from Head Office came in and said straight to my face that I looked 'basic' today because I was only wearing 3 pieces of jewelry. I do not recommend working at Lovisa at all. It is not worth it.

Gave me the opportunity to attain customer service experience and allowed for me to gain a sense of confidence with my communication skills.
The good thingsThe overall atmosphere and the safe space created by the regional and store managers.
The challengesStanding for long periods of time and keeping store paperwork up to date.

management team is the only reason that I'll resign if I had to
The good thingsGood teammates that are good enough to be a friend 50% off from the purchase Many shifts if you get comfortable with working, not at first
The challengesPressure from management to sell add-ons and sell piercing services. How many will want to pierce their ear without any consideration? Also, hours will increase with no time to rest, but this depends on person Roster changes even during the week and there is no swaps to be approved.

    Would not recommended
The good things- The people you work with are great and so nice - You can learn some new skills and have retail experience
The challenges- Most things - Low Salary, as they pay you as part time so you don't get casual loading - Hours would differ whenever they felt like it. After working for 1-2 year there I have gone between 6 hours a week to 38 hours to 28 hours to 8 hours again. Unreliable
