I work in a positive team, and I take pride in my position and in the work the company does.
The good thingsI enjoy knowing that the work I do in the background helps to contribute to the work our pilots and engineers do- from fighting fires to search and rescue.
The challengesThere is aways room for improvement in any company, but currently I feel well supported in my role.

McDermott Aviation is supportive and continues to give me the opportunity to grow within the company
The good thingsWorking at McDermott Aviation has given me the opportunity to work with amazing people in locations all around Australia as a part of the aerial firefighting team. My highlights are working alongside people from all of the fire agencies and other companies whom you may have never met before to come together as a team to get the job done when it matters, keeping our communities safe.
The challengesAll businesses can be improved on and should strive to do so, McDermott Aviation is no exception. I believe that they are trying.

    Good people and interesting work
The good thingsGood people, working in the field Is always a cooperative effort lots of teamwork, I have always found mangment to be supportive however I am not based in Cooroy so have little insight into the politics of the business however in all my dealings with management I have found them supportive and professional
The challengesI don’t have any I am very self reliant so I don’t seek a lot of involvement with management but never have a problem when I do.

    Toxic work environment
The good thingsPeople on the ground work really hard and go out of their way to help.
The challengesManagement and politics hurt the business while staff go underpaid and under-appreciated.

Worked my rear end off. Always early to start and assisted with maintenance on the trucks. What did all this mean? NOTHING. After giving my all for five seasons, told sorry not this season, we are cleaning the slate and hiring five new people. Thanks for nothing. So much for dedication. Meant nothing.
The good thingsWorking with the aircrew guys and ensuring they had enough fuel, water and ground support. Going to various locations to hot refuel and having a sense of giving back to the community.
The challengesImprove vehicles and communications with Refuellers.

Great time and wouldn’t change it.
The good thingsGreat people work there. Management are approachable and often take the team out for dinner after a good fire season. They often listen to ideas and take them onboard. Real team atmosphere.
The challengesLots of travel. Fun for some. Issue for others. Admin staff not so much.
