Inept HR leadership dressed up as people management
The good thingsA handful of managers who lead with integrity, but they are the exception.
The challengesHR is led by someone out of their depth who defaults to internal politics over people management and integrity. They operate on favouritism - who they like gets protected, everyone else is on their own. There is no consistency in how policy is applied and no genuine interest in employee wellbeing beyond optics. Stress and burnout is real.

Avoid if you want to be treated with respect.
The good thingsA change of location
The challengesA new location in the city will not change the culture that is still visible in the upper management area of MCP whilst the same people are still in charge.

Not the company it once was. Would not recommend
The good thingsThe company itself has great products with the potential to successfully grow with correct management
The challengesUpper management and HR treat employees poorly where hard work, loyalty and dedication is no longer recognised or appreciated. Company culture is toxic. Though, the company is going through a transformation and restructure, it still should be mindful of how they treat people. You can clearly see employees questioning themselves with uncertainty along with customers being disgruntled as they no longer have the resources and people they were used to talking to have help resolve their queries. A company cannot expect to thrive and have good results after treating people terribly.

Awful experience in the end. The place is horrible and has such a bad reputation everywhere.
The good thingsThe customer relationships that once existed and previous management.
The challengesBetter structure, less micromanaging and a “structure” that included everyone. Pay could be better, acknowledgement would be nice. The list goes on. A once good company has been run into the ground. What started off as more of a team environment got taken over and had about 50 restructures and multiple redundancies and the rest quitting because of the uncertainty. Micromanaging became heavy over the past 1.5 years and a lot of favouritism for a handful. Longevity and loyalty clearly mean nothing and it’s clear to staff and the customers there is zero care factor. We all enjoyed our job before it turned narcissistic and robotic.

A forward moving business where opportunity thrives, talent shines, and change fuels success.
The good thingsA forward thinking business with strong brands, exciting new talent, and real opportunities for growth backed by competitive pay and bonuses.
The challengesTransformation comes with adjustment, and those unfamiliar with change may find it tough, but adaptable professionals will thrive quickly.

Chaotic culture with no support or balance.
The good thingsThere are a few good, often under-appreciated people I work with, and we’ve bonded through the haze of confusion across not only my department but other areas too. To cope with the stress and pressure, all we can really do at this point is laugh. So these are the times when I truly do have a good time. Potential office move might be nice but even then it’s fake news to think this will change the culture. A new fancy office can’t fix the core issues.
The challengesHard work is taken for granted and rarely recognised. We operates in a constant state of confusion, with priorities changing frequently & little clarity from managers. New hires & changes again in strategy is a mess & are creating more disruption than value, adding to the sense of instability. The result is a culture where people are running hard but getting nowhere, leaving me & my peers feeling demotivated, unstable & disconnected. There is no genuine work-life balance, long hours and weekend work are treated as the norm, with no support to manage workloads or wellbeing. Employees are left to fend for themselves, & any issues are met with indifference rather than action. It’s an environment that burns people out quickly & offers little in return beyond frustration. Tone deaf executive leadership team getting hair & make up done for photo shoots whilst we work long hours summarises how employees are treated vs upper management, we are low in the food chain. Just embarrassing.

Toxic culture protected by incompetent leadership
The good thingsA few dedicated and capable colleagues who try to maintain standards despite the dysfunction. Some consumer brands have strong visibility.
The challengesA deeply toxic culture where internal alliances and visibility are rewarded over expertise and contribution. Skilled professionals are routinely overlooked, dismissed, or pushed aside, while those who align socially with management are promoted regardless of competence. Leadership is disjointed, lacking both capability and care. Communication is poor, development is non-existent, and accountability is absent. Management decisions are often reactive, short-sighted, and driven by personal bias rather than strategy. This is an environment where talented people are wasted, morale is low, and dysfunction is allowed to thrive. When those in leadership from top to bottom show no interest in people, progress, or standards, the result is a workplace that drains rather than supports. Avoid if professionalism, growth, or intelligent leadership are priorities.

10/10 would NOT recommend This is not a good company to work for. The culture is rotten from the top. In some way, shape or form the company lets you know how little they care about their employees. If you want a healthy, positive environment to work in, with opportunity, development, and a basic level of security and enjoyment, keep looking. There is nothing positive to say.

Mcphersons used to be a good place to work but now the culture is so toxic, staff don’t get looked after and are a low priority to management it’s really hard to get support from anyone above you, there are so many changes are happening and no clarity on what that means for staff in the long term and unfortunately it’s really sad but a lot of good people are leaving due to this. Reps are now having to stay in road side motels as the budgets have been cut staff safely is definitely not a priority unfortunately.
The good thingsThe people who work there are great. They have great brands.
The challengesMcphersons has lost their way, staff are a low priority the culture is toxic and the morale is really low it’s hard to get things done and to get support within the company and from management, bonus’ are unachievable and goal posts are always moved.

Struggling in a company with huge potential
The good thingsI believe the company has potential to do well with a portfolio of iconic brands and true innovations. Some people at McPhersons are good people, but just affected by the pressures and challenging environment. I have made some great friends and worked with really talented colleagues, but unfortunately, many are sucked into the environment of fear and blame. I have been exposed to many unique opportunities which I wouldn’t have had elsewhere and that’s one of the ongoing great things here. The fast pace has allowed me to grow and strengthen my resilience and agility.
The challengesMcPherson’s was once a great place to work at, with positive and supportive culture. The old systems and processes although not advanced or efficient, it still offered structure and clarity amongst chaos. With the latest transformation efforts, there has been an effort to “improve” & “modernise” the way we work, however, has created more challenges and inefficiencies than ever. There is not one unified language we speak, processes and systems are changing constantly and I can’t keep up with what’s right or what’s wrong. More time is spent on figuring out how to fill an internal facing new template, rather than focusing on delivering value for our customers and consumers. Communication and transparency has been a massive pain point for me. There are hidden side conversations and you are “assumed” to know things but not everything. This leaves me confused and does not set me up for success to do my job. People have not been placed as a key priority and it really saddens me to see how unhappy everyone is. I hope management can take action and focus on treating their employees better by supporting them and enabling them to succeed. Positive culture should be led from top-down.

Loved working with my immediate team but everything else was challenging - many very unhappy staff complaining about being overworked, under resourced and living with constant uncertainty - doesn't help that staff are leaving left, right and centre.
The good thingsMy immediate team, work life balance, enjoyed the essence of my role
The challengesConstant instability, constant changes to company structure, many staff appear unhappy, mainly due to the never ending changes - very unsettling.

Disappointing to the max, wish I had never come on board
The good thingsI have met a few great people, loved working with the Vitamin brands
The challengesThe company knows nothing about the vitamin and health industry. MCP was a beauty based business and a few years purchased 2 really good vitamin brands but are killing them off as they do other brands because they have the wrong people running it. It is very sad. The employees who knew vitamins well have left and the education team made redundant. These brands will die, wish I had never come on board cause now we are selling everything not just vitamins.

    Do not join McPherson's
The good thingsTeam mates facing the same challenging environment. All the good people have left or been made redundant.
The challengesLow salary vs market, toxic environment, multiple redundancies (over 40 heads cut), no career development, bonuses only for senior management, overworked, low morale, low employee engagement score.

McPherson's has become a increasingly challenging and demotivating company to work at. Management is not focused on supporting or enabling their teams, creating a culture of fear and stress. There is lacking recognition and no encouragement for professional growth, leaving employees feeling stuck and undervalued. Morale is low and it is obvious. But it’s quite clear that employee well-being is not a priority. Communication is poor and feedback is often ignored or met with hostility.
The good thingsDegree of flexible working Exposure to well-known brands with huge opportunity Strong camaraderie and support networks among colleagues
The challengesLack of communication Lack of direction High stress levels

McPherson's is a company with great people, strong values, and a clear vision, making it a positive and supportive place to work. While building a solid foundation comes with challenges due to the many moving parts, the business is on the right path. With its people centric approach and commitment to continuous improvement, McPherson's is well equipped to navigate these complexities and continue progressing toward long-term success.
The good thingsMcPherson's is a company that genuinely cares about its people. The atmosphere here is warm and welcoming, with colleagues who are not just skilled but also kind and supportive. The leadership team has a strong, clear vision, and they lead with integrity and purpose. It's evident that they are deeply committed to not only achieving business success but also ensuring that everyone feels valued and included in the journey. What really stands out at McPherson's are the values that guide the company. It’s a people centric, family oriented environment where work life balance is truly respected. The company places a high value on doing the right thing, which is reflected in how they treat both employees and customers. There’s also a strong sense of self-awareness within the organisation a recognition that while McPherson’s is already a great place to work, there’s always room to grow and improve.
The challengesWhile McPherson's is heading in the right direction, there's no denying that the journey comes with its challenges. Building a strong foundation requires navigating through a lot of moving parts, and this can sometimes feel overwhelming. However, these challenges are part of the growth process, and they're essential for laying down the groundwork for long term success.

Overall was a good experience professionally but I found the lack of process and weak leadership made it very difficult to create any positive momentum for the brands.
The good thingsMy team was very supportive and we worked well together.
