Would Not Recommend Working Here at All
The good thingsVery flexible work environment and plenty of cafes nearby. Well-presented public image, but very poor management internally.
The challengesLimited accountability from management, often framed as a need for “initiative and proactiveness” alongside disorganised onboarding with minimal guidance. Direction was frequently inconsistent or unclear, with responsibilities often deflected rather than owned, resulting in a lack of clarity and confidence across the team. While there was an emphasis on support and team culture, this was not consistently reflected in practice across all departments. High staff turnover was also persistent and seemed to be intentionally swept under the rug. Overall, stronger leadership accountability, clearer expectations, and more structured support would significantly improve the experience

    Scheduling systems need significant improvement
The good thingsI appreciated having employment and the ability to earn money to provide food on the table
The challengesScheduling was extremely disorganized, with irregular and unpredictable shifts. There seemed to be an oversupply of workers, yet not enough available clients. I also felt that support workers were not treated with sufficient respect, and communication with clients and management could be improved.

Toxic and unsupportive team culture avoid at all costs
The good thingsReception and other teams were welcoming and warm to new starters
The challengesThe team culture was extremely poor, with little guidance or support from leadership. I often felt excluded and left to manage complex work without direction. Lack of timely communication and support made the role unsustainable. Would not recommend!

Would not recommend working for their early learning centres
The good thingsThe children make it so you keep turning up everyday but that slowly became too hard in the face if a toxic work culture
The challengesCold a day remote management. Unrealistic expectations and pressure on educators. Never can supply resources so staff pay our of own pocket. Really poor culture.

    Amazing staff and clients.
The good thingsWorking at Mercycare Wembley ,was a amazing! staff on the floor are fantastic people, and being a part of WA history, working with, and caring for the Sisters of Mercy, was a humbling experience, such dedication, even though these nuns were retired was inspiring. It was a hard decision to leave these amazing people.
The challengesThe upper management who did not understand how the floor is run, made some silly decisions regarding staff on the floor.

You will feel supported, connected and acknowledged because MercyCare do care about their employees.
The good thingsThe culture at MercyCare is amazing. You feel included and supported not only by the management team but the executive team. I am very fortunate to have a diverse team, and how lucky we are to celebrate all cultures within our centre and community. I have educators who speak other languages to support our families, which makes our families feel important and connected. The Area Manager is very connected to the centres, knowing educator’s names and also remembering children’s names. This is what makes MercyCare amazing.
The challengesI haven’t faced any challenges.

MercyCare has been my favourite organisation to work for so far
The good things-My manager/coordinator is brilliant. Very supportive and encouraging. I’ve never had a manager like them before who actually listened so it was a shock. -You have the opportunity to attend training of your choice each financial year for professional development. -Salary packaging available -Interview and orientation is thorough. -Safeguarding children policies are fantastic. MercyCare take it seriously. -Regular supervision provided. -Team building days are fun.
The challengesDepends on the role you’re in but overall, as long as you speak up and talk through any concerns and you have a reasonable manager, you’re covered.

Don’t work for this company. It is toxic and the company values are just lip service
The good thingsSalary sacrifice. Carers who are dedicated to their jobs and truly care about the residents.
The challengesSenior management make decisions that impact staff, with no consultation with the people at grass roots who are actually doing the job. Management at service level is weak. Permanent shifts are taken away from long serving staff with no reason.
