Avoid if possible. Unless you are a manager the place is toxic
The good thingsThe other staff members, not management
The challengesRole was described to me as monday-friday 8-4 during my interview and orientation. Was told I would work alone and deep clean one room per day. Job was nothing like described. Was told I had to work Tuesday-Friday 9-5 and Saturdays 9-5:30. Also was not deep cleaning one room a day, I was expected to deep clean several rooms with just 2 rags, serious health and safety concerns. Never once was showed where the clean rags were. They outsource housekeepers to avoid paying them correctly. I felt so bad for some of the housekeepers I would help them to finish their jobs so that they would be paid fairly. Terrible place to work would not recommend

This place hasn’t changed in years, old fashioned, stressful, micro managed, negative attitude
    The good thingsOffice location only.
The challengesDo not work here. This place hasn’t changed in 12 years, it still works in an old fashion of micro managing. I read someone’s comment before about this but I still have it a go, the guy was right. Everyone here carries some sort of a micro managing, authoritative , negative energy. They ask you to tell them when to go to bathroom and also when you come back, they micro manage every single move of yours , even when you are delivering , the supervisors makes everyone’s life just so difficult and it’s just stressful. A trap. A prison.

For me, it's so so. I will ask you to look for something else, for your own peace.
The good thingsThe co workers are good.
The challengesThe supervisors are managers likes a bit of distance, except one of them. They won't sugar coat things if you under perform based on sickness, even if it's genuine. Just show them prescriptions. Also, the equipment are on a bad state, or it's less than needed, which slows down the cleaning. You get paid based on number of rooms, so even if you clean 3 rooms using 5 hours, you get paid for 3 rooms and standard cleaning time (which is 2h15m if you clean three departure/full.) You won't get breaks among rooms, the more you work the more rooms you get so please choose this as a workplace if you are the soundest person on earth.

The good thingsMy time with Meriton has been excellent, my Direct Mangers have provided me with the tools, advice and support needed to excel in my position. Career growth is excellent with Meriton Suites, first started as an FOM and have recently been prompted to Rooms Division Manager, highly recommend starting a career with Meriton Suites

Not your regular hotel. Meriton Suites is in a class of its own. Lots to learn & many opportunities.
The good thingsMeriton Suites really allows for internal growth and development. Starting from a duty manager to a front office manager in three year. Having so many properties allows for team members to work in different location and meet new people and learn new skills. Head office takes care of most things such as revenue or reservation and the front office just focuses on delivering service. It's an amazing feeling to be able to give a great experience to so many guests.
The challengesThe days sometimes kind of blend in together. Operating under shift work isn't a great fit for everyone.

High pay does not make up for the unrealistic expectations, calls and messages from management outside of your working hours and needing to do Housekeeping and Maintenance requests when they’re offsite.
The good thingsGood, supportive and helpful colleagues and high pay.
The challengesAlways needing to attend to after hour maintenance and housekeeping requests, constantly needing to cover up Housekeepings mistake as the rooms not ready at 3:00PM or if the room is ready but not clean upon guest’s check in. Management will always contact you outside of your work hours, yes this includes from 4:00AM and 9:00PM. Furthermore, needing to attend to after hours Maintenance and Housekeeping guest requests is an inexcusable reason to management as to why Guest Services Agents tasks aren’t complete.

No such thing as a work & life balance.
The good thingsCo workers, monthly lunches with staff from all departments, free parking & hotel manager was always friendly.
The challengesThe overwhelming rotating rosters (days & hours), the lifts always had an issue, rarely getting weekends off (unless you ask & the manager says yes) & standing for 8+ hours with only a 30 minute break to be able to sit.

The challenges The only challenge is not having free car parking.

The company had a fluent flow of clientele and was always fresh and modern.
The good thingsFinancially secure company with a reputable brand is refreshing as everything is replaced regularly and abundant in supply.
The challengesThe body corporate split on some buildings can sometimes become challenging in retaining security.

Good company to work for. Needs more women in senior roles for inspiration though!
The good thingsThe chances to progress are endless if it's something you really want. Transferring to different properties is a breeze and is something that is encouraged for you to learn and it does work. The culture is positive and management really do keep your best interests in mind.
The challengesWeekends are a challenge. Guests can be volatile so you need a thick skin to deal with it. Also the rotating roster can make time off requests difficult but that is something that comes with working in hospitality.

Pay is above average but is it worth it
The good thingsThe pay is good and most of the managers at a property level are knowledgeable and care about personal development
The challengesThe customers are horrible and senior management is unconcerned with addressing issues concerning workplace safety in regards to unconscionable guests If you are working at reception expect to be to deal with regular complaints on weekends
