I do not recommend anyone work for Sealife Melbourne
The good thingsYou get free passes to all Merlin attractions and discounts for what they have. In Melbourne they did just sell half their attractions so you don’t really get much in Victoria.
The challengesVery toxic place to work, you are constantly over worked and left with questions. Rules and regulations change at the drop of a hat and it doesn’t really seem like the people in charge have any idea what they are doing. You don’t get kept in the look for anything and are expected to do more than required.

Fast-paced, creative work delivering memorable guest experiences while leading teams through change.
The good thingsWhat I enjoyed most about working at Merlin Entertainments was the combination of entertainment, creativity, and operational leadership. I valued being part of a business focused on creating memorable guest experiences rather than simply delivering a service. The fast-paced environment meant no two days were the same, which kept the role engaging and rewarding. I particularly enjoyed the creative side of guest experience, supporting launches, activations, and new experiences while balancing operational, safety, and budget requirements. Leading and developing teams was also a highlight, helping team members grow, step into leadership, and perform confidently in guest-facing roles. Working across multiple attractions strengthened my ability to manage complex operations, collaborate with stakeholders, and balance guest satisfaction with commercial outcomes.
The challengesOne of the main challenges I experienced was navigating a period of change where leadership direction became less clear. The transition to new senior leadership resulted in limited strategic vision being communicated, which at times made it difficult to align teams around shared goals and priorities. There was also a lack of consistent collaboration between departments, leading to siloed decision-making and reduced efficiency. This sometimes created duplicated effort, slower problem resolution, and challenges in delivering a seamless guest experience across attractions. Managing teams through this uncertainty required additional effort to maintain morale, clarity, and performance while continuing to meet operational, safety, and commercial expectations. While challenging, the experience strengthened my resilience, adaptability, and ability to lead effectively in complex and evolving environments.

You will be overworked and underappreciated.
The good thingsThe people you meet along the way, however you have to be careful with who you mingle with.
The challengesUnderstand that you are nothing but a number in the system and can be fired at anytime. The workplace is essentially high school 2.0 find the best social ladder to climb and you will survive but if you don't fit in then you are out.

It may seem good from the outside, but it most certainly is worse than you could possibly imagine
The good thingsYou do create a good relationship with the colleagues that don't try to undermine you - you'll see and learn who those ones are very quickly
The challengesThe management don't value you, the pay is leagues below industry standards and you are worked to the bone with little to no acknowledgement. And good like trying to get a job after - it doesn't teach you and real skills to take elsewhere and you will have to start from the ground up

Fun, stress, low reward, good experience but never again
The good thingsFun and friendly working environment, focus on the build the multi culture, diversity and supporting and keen to bring the best guest experience.
The challengesdue to poor management at staff training (specially lack of training for how to facing the peak season) and operation support that leads to continually short staffed and extra unnecessary stress to frontline team and supervisors.

I worked there for 3 years and only left because I was getting into an industry I wanted to work for.
The good thingsA lot of support provided to progress through your career. They are really big on L&D and have a lot of courses and resources to help you develop various skills.
The challengesSalary is a bit on the lower end of the scale compared to similar roles in the market. Leave policy is a bit stringent.
