Micah Projects is an organisation I would encourage a practitioner of any CALD to work for even just once.
The good thingsMicah is home far from work. Every single staff is down to earth and real. I made more lifelong friendships at Micah than any stage of my life. You would almost wish the day never ended. One more practical aspect of Micah is the direct and person centred interaction between the teams for instance. A good example is the Payroll office; your queries get addressed almost instantaneously and the team is so flexible and adaptable as well. Changes of circumstances and need to be paid sooner? Payroll is there for you. I don’t know how More practical it can get!
The challengesI felt we became more of a family and a community that I started to feel like my professional needs were not being met, simply because most tough and honest feedbacks started seeming to get diluted. Also in the team that I was a part of, it was not made fully clear my roles and upon finishing work I was not entirely sure whether I had achieved the organisational outcomes. My role, performance as well as evaluation seemed to be more subjective than objective; as such it was hard for me to measure my results.

I have a lot of respect for the work Micah does, both on the ground and in their ability as an organisation in forward thinking.
The good thingsa well rounded group of professionals with a passion and sensitivity that I have rarely found in an organisation. Seamless communication between all teams.
The challengesClient population is challenging, tying them into various government organisations that are meant to provide specific care packages. The shifts that we needed to work were all unsocial hours.

A short term stepping stone in gaining some experience in social work.
The good thingsA great job to help people in the community and help provide good services to people.
The challengesLack of full time positions and over time. No opportunities to progress alot of nepitism and prejudice between staff not enough consistancy in work hours and training. Management are very pretentious and superficial having a real ignorance when it come to peoples culture and needs. Management focus is more on quantity of statistics for funding rather than quality of service for staff and people.

    I still work here
The good thingsFamily friendly environment. Up to date with training. I feel confident in the professionalism of the business management area. A great asset to the community as a whole. There should be an ongoing increase of funding from the government especially in the disability services area. A work place where you can feel confident that your work place rights is being met.
The challengesChallenges are with extremely difficult clients.
