I should have left years earlier.
    The good thingsFriendships and facilities
The challengesVery limited opportunity to grow and progress in ANZ offices. Below industry remuneration. No salary increase in high inflation environment. Redundancies using restructure or outsourcing to an overseas Morningstar office as a reason or excuse (but in fact responsibilities remain and rehiring under a different job title and reporting line). Lack of documentations and process improvement in some business lines. Some employees unwilling to share knowledge for fear of redundancies. Growth by acquisitions - difficulty to integrate cultures. Woman leaders seldom stay long. Minimal effort in retaining talent.

    5 years and counting...
The good thingsFantastic company that offers loads of opportunity to grow and develop both locally and internationally, which I have experienced both of. A great culture that is fueled by employees who are always there to help you.
The challengesNothing out of the ordinary that you would not expect from a company that is in over 27 countries around the world!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Morningstar and would definitely highly recommend it to others looking for a forward thinking global company where you can have a big impact from Australia
The good things- Lots of opportunity - both locally and globally - Flat Org structure and the ability to really make a difference - Many smart, talented people who work hard, but can have fun too - its a pretty good culture. - A commendable mission that is genuinely followed across the company! - A clear local growth plan - with a strong product suite across many segments - A good mix of local expertise and global scale
The challenges- Its hard to think of anything specific, which is a good sign.

Morningstar is a great place to work.
The good thingsI don't have a background in finance, so was initially unsure about considering a role in financial services. Morningstar is different. It's highly ethical and is full of smart people who collaborate together. It's the kind of culture that strives to hire people with different backgrounds, perspectives, interests, and expertise. I've been given the opportunity to move around the company, try new things, even move across the globe. Morningstar goes out of its way to retain committed, hard-working, and engaged staff who believe in its mission to help investors of all shapes and sizes.
The challengesEvery company has its worts, but Morningstar's pale in comparison. Our structure is complex, and our scope is vast; these realities do create some challenges.

Great company, great culture, actively working to improve
The good thingsMorningstar is a great place to work. Morningstar sets itself apart in financial service by encouraging, developing and genuinely offering an environment that fosters and rewards long-term thinking, and investor friendly behaviour. Decent ideas get an audience here. The local team is great and has been improving, with the current CEO committed to developing the team and encouraging high performance.
The challengesNo company is perfect though. As with any global firm, there are challenges balancing global and local needs. There's also the weight of legacy systems that we need to more aggressively improve. More attention could be paid to personal productivity and employee tooling (computers, etc), which is by no means bad but needs work.
