    Please consider working elsewhere.
The good thingsThe people you work with are amazing. The campus is lovely, and there are genuine people who care about the wellbeing of the students.
The challengesWhere to start. Nepotism, awful culture, if you know the right people you can basically get away with whatever you want. Have never worked in such a terrible place. They work you to the bone then turn on you the second you say no to something.

Left a very bad taste in my mouth after several good early years of work.
The good thingsOpportunity of working with students and other good staff. Also leaving and getting away from internal politics, useless HR and higher management.
The challengesUnrealistic demands of higher managers, HR, training , change management, higher managers need closer monitoring and feedback systems need improving.

Purpose-Driven Culture with Evolving LeadershipMurdoch University is a workplace with a strong sense of purpose and a growing optimism. Leadership is passionate and increasingly responsive to strategic goals—especially in enhancing learning experiences and advancing sustainability, equity, diversity, inclusion, and First Nations engagement. While the culture is improving, the university is still navigating challenges like declining enrolments and the need to correct some past leadership decisions. That said, the current direction feels more aligned and future-focused, making it an exciting time to be part of the journey.

Beautiful place so much potential waiting to blossom with visionary leadership and cultural change.
The good thingsBeautiful campus. A supportive VC.
The challengesPoor business process and silo behaviour is holding this University back from modernising and attracting the right people. A lack of strategic planning and insight into modern workplace harmony and culture.

Challenging and character building employer that opens doors to a range of related occupations and career paths, but getting into the inner circle is hard work.
The good thingsChallenging, diverse role with masses of client contact and the opportunity to develop my skills and contacts base. Seeing students we supported for years feel the joy of graduating and opening a world of employment options and life opportunities.
The challengesContinually re-prioritising work, decreasing number of energetic staff, shift from positive client outcomes and internal staff relations to resource and funding priorities.

Used to love my job - not now, now I dread coming to work.
The good thingsWhat was good has now gone. Morale was once high. Good superannuation contribution.
The challengesManagement are up there and don't listen to the workers. In their eyes and words everyone is happy and everything they have changed and implemented is working well which is not the case

If you care about people, this institution is not the place to be.
The good thingsWorking with students is rewarding.
The challengesThe corporate model has overtaken educational values and like oil and water they do not mix. Students are an unfortunate inconvenience in the pursuit of the dollar.

Murdoch was both a wonderful and a difficult place to work. There were plenty of inspirational colleagues and projects but there was little guidance, support or encouragement within the department I worked in. Just go into it with your eyes open.
The good thingsBrilliant, inspiring academics, students and professional staff. The innovation, ideas and passion for education and research The beautiful campus and facilities

Needs to understand that it is a business and act like one, rather than an outmoded dinosaur educational institution.
The good thingsMost staff were lovely. Nice working environment (apart from the offices). Good location, lots of very cheap parking. Lots of great events and nice facilities. Recommend Sir Walters Restaurant.
The challengesPoor salary. Old offices with no heating or cooling and old, decrepit furniture. Poor business processes. No investment in staff below Exec. Spending money on unnecessary ‘bright and shiny’ projects which gather public attention rather than investing in maintenance and refurbishment of existing infrastructure. Excessive spend on very expensive consultants.
