What’s it like working at nib Group?

    AI summary of recent reviews

nib Group offers several positive aspects for employees, including an attractive benefits package with discounted health insurance and performance bonuses. The company is known for its supportive frontline staff who create an enjoyable work environment, and provides comprehensive training and coaching support to help employees succeed in their roles.

However, employees have noted some areas for improvement, including concerns about management practices particularly in the contact centre, and the need for more transparent career advancement opportunities. The impact of regular restructures can create uncertainty, while contact centre staff face challenges with strictly monitored KPIs and scheduling.

Resilient Team Culture in a Tough Organisational Climate
The good thingsI genuinely appreciated the camaraderie among colleagues, there was a strong sense of solidarity and support among staff navigating similar challenges. That peer connection made a real difference day-to-day.
The challengesMy experience was marked by repeated restructures and an ongoing expectation to do more with less. Leadership often felt disconnected, with behaviours that reflected passive-aggressive management and limited psychological safety. Despite genuine efforts to contribute meaningfully, recognition and support were scarce, particularly for those who didn’t fit a narrow mould. I also observed signs of unconscious bias that appeared to influence decision-making and progression opportunities. The culture would benefit from more human-centred leadership, grounded in collaboration, inclusion and trust.

Constant restructures and job losses coupled with micromanagement make nib a very difficult place to work unless you are one of the Special Few.
The good thingsWorking from home, discounted health insurance
The challengesRestructure after restructure takes its toll, you never know who is going next. Impossible to get leave approved. Micromanagement.

    Management from hell....Stay well clear
The good thingsStarted out great and learnt a lot of interesting things
The challengesManagement are overbearing and constantly putting people down if they feel challenged. Innovation is only allowed when management can claim its their own. Low salary for the effort needed to be put in. If you have a mind of your own and can think for yourself, you will be on the outer with no prospect of career progression.
