Not a pleasant experience, there are more progressive organisations
The good thingsCompany has strong client centric values, close knit working environment, remuneration decent enough.
The challengesPoor risk culture, large work volume for small teams, continuous cost cutting initiatives. Senior management sometimes passive aggressive and not effective. Limited collaboration and more ‘protecting your patch’.

One of the worst places I have worked in 10 years
The good thingsThere isn’t a lot to say here. Wage was ok, bonus system and rates are a joke. Upper management talk the talk… just doesn’t reflect the action at lower levels.
The challengesLower level management are to afraid to make a call in making decisions, always meeting or checking with US for action approval. Teams are siloed and any work is done without any cross collaboration/culture/team development. Inflexibility on work life balance, made to feel like a burden when asking if you can work from home occasionally for any sort of personal reason. Asked to provide documentation from doctors when partner was having a baby so I could work from home after birth, for a few weeks to help out.

Overall, Northern Trust is a good organization to work for. It gives you exposure to working with a global organization. There are room for improvements on some of the benefits offered locally however the subsidized health insurance really does help quite a bit in this current economy.
The good things- Hybrid working - mixture of in-office and working from home opportunities. - Career progression - it takes both individual & manager to help employee progress. I have personally been able to progress my career at NT with the help of my manager & my drive to succeed. - Subsidized health insurance - Central CBD office
The challenges- Process changes - Leadership cascading down changes/information to their team in timely manner

If you want to have any semblance of a personal life, don't bother.
The good thingsThere are some good people and the company subsidies your private health insurance.
The challengesTerrible management and distinct lack of leadership. Long hours with no work/life balance.
