Working at Norths was stressful and disorganized, with poor rostering, high expectations, and casual entitlements often ignored, though training was provided.

The good thingsThe job gave me some hands-on experience and an understanding of how a busy hospitality environment operates day-to-day.

The challengesMy time at Norths was extremely disappointing. Work–life balance was almost impossible, as rosters were often incorrect and staff were expected to stay back without being asked or informed. The culture was toxic, with very high expectations placed on employees but little respect or understanding shown in return. Although training was thorough, any mistakes were addressed in a way that felt unnecessarily rude or harsh during meetings, rather than being handled constructively. Management often went against the very definition of casual employment by demanding detailed reasons for “leave” and even denying it, when as a casual worker it should simply mean being unavailable. Overall, the environment felt disorganized, unsupportive, and unhealthy. I would not recommend this workplace for anyone looking for fair treatment, balance, or respect.
