Avoid at all costs, this will be the most toxic job you will ever have.
The good thingsThe car, fuel card, fringe benefit and some of the employees. Helping participants to break down barriers and gain employment is rewarding.
The challengesThis job will push you to the absolute limit mentally and physically. There is no HR. You will be micromanaged and given a workload that will see you earning half of what you should after calculating your realistic weekly hours. The issues start from upper management and work their way down, resulting in management’s poor behavior being condoned. The constant staff turnover lands the few employees left with insane workloads left to manage the issues created by toxic management.

I have been able to grow both personally and professionally in my role and have learnt new skills and gained confidence that I haven't with past employment. Although it can be mentally tough, the work is rewarding when you see participants achieve their goals and gain confidence.
The good thingsThe work is extremely fulfilling. Employees are rewarded for their performance and support and mentorship is in place from management to help achieve personal and professional goals. Car and fuel packages as well as Fringe Tax Benefits.
The challengesWorkload can be intense but is manageable if you put in the hard work and prepare in advance.

A good place to work doing good work!
The good thingsIt is a good job doing good work. I have enjoyed working with my colleagues over the years. Great support provided by Octec to assist participants not just getting into work but also staying in work and making my engagement role easier.
The challengesEngagement roles require perseverance so don't expect results overnight. You need to be consistent in your approach, have patience and be clear and timely in your communications with everyone.

Working at OCTEC has been a great experience, coming from other companies where I was not provided with the same level of support.
The good thingsOCTEC is a company based on values. They look after you, provide the necessary support when needed and treat everyone fairly
The challengesNothing that is a deal breaker, everything is reasonable and job related

If you value your mental health DONT work here
The good thingsHaving a company car that you can use for personal use is great however you loose money out of your pay and get nothing out of it at the end.

Octec is a company with poor communication from top management, a lack of care for employees, and unethical practices like withholding bonuses and unpaid fuel reimbursements—stay away.
    The good thingsColleagues were great
The challengesWorking at Octec has been a frustrating experience overall. Not only do they still owe me for fuel expenses I covered out of pocket, but they also don't pay out bonuses you've rightfully earned, conveniently by not including them in the contract. It feels like they go out of their way to avoid fairly compensating employees for their efforts. On top of that, communication from the top level is terrible. Management is rude, unresponsive, and seems to genuinely not care about staff concerns or well-being. If you're looking for a workplace that values transparency, fairness, and respect, I'd highly recommend staying well away from this mob.

the work is rewarding, the clients can be wonderful. the business is not. Its there to make money not support its clients or staff.
The good thingsAssisting the clients to a happier and more sustainable lifestyle. Each participant comes with their own unique barriers, being able to support them into employment is extremely rewarding
The challengesManagement, clients are pushed beyond their limits to get employment, even when it doesn't suit their needs just to keep the contract. Staff are treated poorly for getting clients job ready before pushing them into a workplace.

Met some good people, loved helping my clients and I know I helped many people within my community. I did that for me not the company I worked for.
The good thingsThe Car is literally the only good thing about this company
The challengesGetting any kind of support from management. Being micromanaged the whole time, bad resources, outdated processes, Not even management kniw what they are doing yet the problems fall on the consultants.

    Toxic, mentally draining and demanding.
The good thingsImmediate coworkers are supportive.
The challengesManagement is toxic, unpleasant and not approachable. You will be held to unrealistic KPI's and demands from senior members who do not understand opportunities for work in rural locations aren't easy to come by, especially for the DES demographic.

    It was an awful experience.
The good thingsSome of the staff were good.
The challengesManagement has a difficult time leading and managing staff. Management has the responsibility, to train staff and themselves about disability and leadership skills. This void would need to be addressed.

Management pushes employees to the limit to reach unrealistic targets without any support, there is no room to grow in the company. WHS in the company is a joke, they don’t care about mental or physical health of employees.

The good thingsThe management was amazing always there to help when you are stuck with anything, The training was fantastic. work life balance was great.
The challengesDealing with clients that has major health issues and was put in the system to gain employment instead of getting DSP from the start. Not enough clients to meet KPI for star rating

Run. Run as fast as you can.
The good thingsThe participants. Some co-workers. The car and free petrol is cool.
The challengesManagers that are aggressive to their staff. Paperwork practices that pre exist the modern era - so unusual for an employment services provider. No HR, the HR are the senior managers and they do not care about anyone but the managers. KPIs can change randomly. if they want you gone, they will make your life hard.

Good for a stepping stone to bigger things
The good thingsThe fact you get a car is good. Fbt is always good The people you work with are really great
The challengesI do feel there is not a lot of room for growth within the business The systems they use are very archaic, and make more work for the consultants. There is a lot of issues around referrals from centrelink for many sites which means targets are hard to hit when no one is walking through the door. Even with reaching out to other services this issue is only getting worse with contuined concerns been raised with management but no follow up on resolutions.

RIP your motivation and confidence and non-environmental friendly.
The good thingsThis question does not exist.
The challengesCompany’s tag line Not For Profit is a big myth. Frustrating is beyond belief’s. You will be micro-managed to your soul. Bad habit of keeping employees under constant stress and pressure without providing adequate resources and training. If you are looking to take you motivation and confidence to new heights that you would have never believed i.e. Zero. Welcome to For Big Profit Organisation. Extras - Outdated working system, huge piles of papers (no regard for environment), archived system will make your soul freeze, rude senior management.

The good thingsThe people on the caseload.
The challengesEverything. No security on site at all, no HR, FBT makes no sense, daily useless catch ups with managers who then ignore your actual questions, concerns or training requests.
