I always proud to be part of the successful company with caring and always giving back to the PNG community. Oil Search can give some good opportunities if you know someone in the top management and it is a big company with small minded leadership.
The good thingsOil Search really supportive in gender equality, development of PNG citizen and caring for the community in PNG. I'm very proud of my time and feel has accomplished beyond my skill background because of some mentors that open the opportunity doors.
The challengesThere are some incompetent people just clinging to the 'big guys' in the company and constantly making awful decisions. HR will always side the senior management hence it's difficult to show honest opinion. In the high oil price the company will get expensive contractors to help their business however when oil price crashed, normally the employee that will go first.

Excellent until the oil price dive
The good thingsThe 'doers' are generally nice people to work with. Was becoming a genuinely great company right up until the oil price dive.
The challengesAfter the oil price dive, certain management personnel found it difficult to accept that there were genuine concerns requiring investment even after being presented an airtight analysis and justification. Questioning the validity of decades of engineering science wholly accepted by supermajors is not the way to run a business that supposedly cares for safety and the environment. Don't blame them for redundancies in the economic environment, however the obvious high performers and those that were actually saving the company money are gone. They are left with a bunch of 'yes' men.

Oil Search lacks dierection and maturity due to the fact that it is lead by a relatively inexperienced manegemtn team whose members are not adequately educated for the various roles they fill.
The good thingsThe tax free income and a lot of excellent people to work with.
The challengesThe inexperienced and immature management team.

My overall experience working for Oil Searh has been very positive and has not failed my expectation.
The good thingsThe flexibility and freedom to create new systems and improved process. OilSeach also provides remarkable local and national community service in PNG, which is above and beyond what is typically expected from a corporate organisation. Working for Oil Search has also provided me with the opportunity to see and experience some very remote parts of PNG.
The challengesOil Search generally has immature systems and processes. The conpany is also relatively small, compared to other corporate organisation, so opportunities for professional growth and development are relatively limited.

A work environment that has up to date systems & processes and staff and management that truly works as a team.
The good thingsManagement - they listen and recognise. Up to date systems and processes that allows you to do your work effectively and efficiently.
The challengesI created challenges for myself in taking on greater responsibilities outside of my normal work scope which was clearly recognised.
