Overall a decent place to work. Good people, challenging work.
The good thingsCouldn’t ask for a better bunch of people to share the work day with.
The challengesIt got a bit squeezy sometimes because the building isn’t quite big enough for the number of staff.

    Could be worse
The good thingsYou can get discounted books. Most of the co-workers are friendly. If you're desperate for a job you could do a lot worse.
The challengesThe building is terrible; if you have hyper-sensitive eyes you can see the power flicker when a laser printer or the air-conditioners kick in. The co-workers who aren't friendly can ruin your whole day in an instant. Everything in the server room needs replacing and there's no budget for it. Management's communication with IT varies between non-existent and lack-lustre and is frequently antagonising. Pay is better almost everywhere else.

Easy job to get, even easier to forget
The good thingsThe people I met. Really that happens at every workplace.
The challengesThe management. What a joke.

A great learning curve as to finding my own worth
The good thingsThe co-workers were all very supportive people. We all enjoyed a laugh together and helping each other out in day to day tasks. I formed some amazing friendships during my time there.
The challengesManagement unfortunately are not at all supportive and expect an unearthly amount of work from you without any help. When I started I felt supported until the things I was told would happen didn't. I had to fend for myself for many many years.

Innovative Company Leading in its Domain
The good thingsPeter Pal underwent a lot of change while I was there. A focus on continuous innovation drove lots of productivity improvements. Management listens to feedback and tries hard to create an enjoyable workplace for staff. Donuts for Christmas in July, Dress-ups for Book Week & Halloween, Christmas outfits in December were some fun events held this year. Discounted Books & AV material for staff was a nice perk.
The challengesSome staff had trouble coping with change but fortunately most have moved on now. The type of work performed by each department varies widely and it is not uncommon for some staff members to stick to their teams except in some roles which interact with the whole business.

Years of hard work sadly does not pay off here.
The good thingsThe couple of hardworking/ funny co-workers that were there "including myself", that could help you get through the week. The hilarious memories with a select few I will forever cherish.
The challengesLack of communication, Feeling unappreciated, All departments are very segregated. Please management, show your employees more appreciation, you don't know how much that can mean. On a lesser note, sometimes Christmas BBQ's are in November.

    Stressful for no good reason
The good thingsThe only good thing about working at Peter Pal is that it is an in-between job, as in, it's good to work while you are looking for another job
The challengesNo progression unless you stay there for more than a couple years. Terrible building with no air con and minimal cleaning. Pay is the minimum wage. No work/life balance- medical certificate for every day/hour sick leave, sick/recreation leave two weeks in advance. The work can be way too small or way too much work, all to be completed in a small amount of time with the addition of computer systems being incomplete, completely unresponsive or broken. The employees were mixed in forms of approachability, some of them are mean-spirited which makes the work the more difficult if you need assistance with anything.

If you value your mental health, don't work here.
The good thingsFriendly co-workers who desperately try to build a company culture. Pay was pretty good. Coffee van was usually prompt every morning. It was cool being around so many books.
The challengesThe people in power are dreadful, they don't care about you. You will be replaceable, you may be told this to your face. Deadlines are extremely challenging. Everyone is unhappy. Everyone I've spoken to who is still there feels trapped, they have a dead look in their eyes when they speak about the company.

    Poohole of a workplace!!
The good thingsNone. There are no good things. Just filling this box up to satisfy the twenty word requirement.
The challengesEverything. Deadlines. No idea whether they are satisfied with your work. Other workers dissatisfied with working at Peter Pal.
