I see new management genuinely trying to make small changes to make things better. It's a start.
The good thingsThey provided training and great working conditions. Half the staff are genuinely friendly and great with teamwork. The staff discounts are great.
The challengesThe minimum hours I've stated weekly when I applied and they agreed to weren't honoured. Some of the senior staff are disappointingly toxic. You're lucky if you're with good co-workers and no micromanagement. They like to compete instead of working together and are critical when you make a mistake. They shot down any new ideas that could help and are strict to their own system. They're prone to praising you outside and then putting you down behind doors. At the worst, you'll be in between making sure the customer is treated right and in the heat from management. Upper management only sees numbers.
Pillow Talk People and Culture TeamThank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re pleased you experienced supportive team members, valuable training, and positive conditions, and that you’ve seen improvements from new management, that’s encouraging. We’re sorry other aspects did not meet expectations. Feeling supported, respected, and able to contribute ideas matters to us, as does clarity around working hours. We take all feedback seriously and continue to focus on strengthening our workplace environment, including team culture, communication, and leadership capability. If you’d like to share more, our People & Culture team is available confidentially at [email protected].

    Rewarding and enjoyable
The good thingsThe amazing culture within not just the store but the business as a whole. The support, communication and training provided by senior members. The satisfaction of providing advice and products to customers when the enter our store.
    The challengesNothing to be honest.
Pillow Talk People and Culture TeamThank you so much for taking the time to share such a positive review. We’re delighted to hear that you’ve found your experience both rewarding and enjoyable. Overall 50/50 company to work for
The good thingsSome of the team were amazing. They wanted to help, wanted to see you succeed
The challengesSome of the team including upper management were the opposite. Life is what happens outside of work and some of these companies need to remember that

Poor culture from sales team to inventory area
The good things60per cent staff discount Good products to work with
The challengesStore management who just don’t address metal health issues and undermine by telling staff “it’s the easiest job they had and you be right “ Only one in two Retail Inventory Leads only last the first 12 months, says a lot about the lack of support and help in the role.

Traumatised. I still often have nightmares about how small I was made to feel whilst working there.
The good thingsTalented peers, exciting brand, beautiful products.
The challengesConstantly changing expectations. Lack of clear and achievable business plan. No encouragement. Nothing was ever deemed good enough. On top of this, when excitedly I informed my senior manager of my pregnancy, they told me I just “handed them a grenade”. Pretty shocking for a company that has over 50% female employees.

    Poor company culture and management
The good thingsThe staff discount was a positive
The challengesThere was little chance for progression and the management was poor. The culture was not great overall, and micromanagement was a real issue. Goals were frequently changed or set to unattainable levels. I was regularly excluded from meetings around tasks in my remit.

You feel like you are in some dystopian future.
The good thingsMade some good friends and the 60% discount is nice as the full price is absolutely not worth it. Early starts weren't bad.
The challengesAs a warehouse worker, you get treated poorly. They clearly make a divide between office workers and warehouse staff. Pay is very poor, mind numbing and repetitive work and managers that like to flex their authority. Pay is laughably low, especially if you are full-time. Goodluck trying to work your way up in the company.

The good thingsGreat business, built on solid values and run by an owner who genuinely cares about people. Very passionate retail team, delivering some of the best service in the sector. One of my favourite gigs so far.
The challengesThe speed and rate the business is moving and growing has its challenges, however if you love a pacy role, it’s more exciting than anything.

Greedy greedy company that puts profits above the health and welfare of loyal and hardworking employees that gave their all during the time of their employment.
    The good thingsGenourous staff discount
The challengesManagement don't value good casual staff. Greedy company that didn't value casual staff during Covid, financially and mentally. Most other comparable stores closed for the safety of their staff, they remained open to capitalise on the loss of competitors thus making enough profit so company could not look after their staff for job keeper.

Working with the brand was a great experience for me because all the work team are super nice and are involved with everyone. The people are easy to get along with and the product are easy to remember. The brand is a little bit luxurious when it comes to spending however, for the quality of the products they sell, it’s definitely worth it. It is a splurge if your were looking for good quality products at a high price I would say. Overall I had a pretty good experience
The good thingsI love learning about the equipments at pillow talk for it really broadened my knowledge in home stock.
The challengesI didn’t face any challenges working here.

    A lovely place to work
The good thingsI loved working here. Staff were lovely, management team were great, discount was awesome, just all round a lovely place to work.
The challengesSometimes customers were a bit uppity, but mostly they were nice. Learning all the products was a lot, but doable. I pretty much only left because I wasn't getting enough hours.

if you have a good manager that has people skills its a lovely atmosphere to work in.
The good thingslovely surrounds to work in and the 60% staff discount certainly was an incentive
The challengesno TEAM effort. many of staff wouldn't help out in other departments. working over 7 days hard to ever get 2 days in row off let alone wkend. company is very much about bottom line and has changed from caring about its employees to cutting back hours to the bone and expecting same level of attention to job. should close down stores that don't perform not prop them up with others that do.

    Good for a part-time job
The good thingsFlexible, dependable teams and management, great staff discount, on the job training, store separated into departments.
The challenges- poor inventory management: frustrating when catalogs and online show products that have extremely limited availability in stores. -gradually lowering shift duration (mostly 3-hour shifts for casual staff 2-4 times per week) - leave blackout periods for Christmas and July.

I did enjoy working for this company but has left a sour taste in my mouth.
The good thingsGreat discounts and flexibility. Great products to work with.
The challengesI went on maternity leave for 6 months and despite being available again have been given no more shifts. In the mean-time two Christmas casuals were hired. Have been with the company since 2013 so a real kick in the teeth. No communication from management so left in limbo. Shifts get cut short if quiet. Very pushy with meeting KPIs
