During my time at QC, I faced a difficult work environment marked by a toxic "boys' club" culture. The workplace was heavily influenced by a masculine culture that often led to exclusion, with toxic attitudes and actions being overlooked. This created an atmosphere where respect and professionalism were frequently sidelined, making it hard to feel valued or supported. The lack of accountability for such behaviour left me feeling marginalised and frustrated, making my experience at QC both challenging and disheartening.

A great example of a sporting body who put their people first.
The good thingsAccess to professional development opportunities within the cricket world, Great flexibility in the off season due to their understanding of in season workload. Car, Phone, Laptop, uniforms, social events, PD and upskills all included.
The challengesIn season very busy, of season very slow. depending on your role alot of out of hours work is involved.

Management not supportive overall despite some great attempts by a few.
The good thingsIf you love cricket then being able to work within the sport is great. Free tickets to games and being able to meet the players made it enticing.
The challengesThe new management team does not value employees. Those who care about their employees are made redundant. The culture is awful as everyone feels under pressure to perform with a lack of resources and is fearful for their job security. The experience was a good one from a cricket perspective but I constantly feared saying or doing the wrong thing as management were not supportive overall despite some great attempts by a few.

I love my job and would recommend this organisation to a friend.
The good thingsQueensland Cricket offers a great team environment and has fantastic benefits and perks (merchandise, tickets, well-being initiatives and other ad hoc things). Many roles include a car and phone.
The challengesPeople often start work here because they are passionate about cricket but they also need to ensure they have the other skills necessary for their role ans that they understand the hours required over the summer.
