Glad to see the back of Rabobank, certainly the worst time in my 15 year career.
The good thingsDrinks and social events each month
The challengesLots of politics, culture has substantially turned for the worse. Toxic work culture with little opportunity for career development. Old white man culture. People promoted based on friendships and not capabilities.

Good place to work if your role only involves doing what is required
The good thingsWork life balance is good if you are not part of a call based type role
The challengesHard work is rewarded with more work, the roles at the bottom (grade 5) are forgotten about and no acknowledgement for doing out of scope duties will be received

The values-based culture makes Rabobank a nice place to work – very happy that I made the decision to join!
The good things• Working for a cooperative bank whose purpose is to feed the world sustainably • The people - hands down one of the nicest places I have ever worked • People development • Hybrid working • Competitive performance bonuses
The challengesRabobank is a smaller than some other banks so you may take on some tasks handled by other siloed teams in larger organisations which you may need to get used when you start; a positive is it can make your role broader & help widen your influence

Rabobank really cares about both its clients and staff, and this leads to staff always putting in 100% when meeting the needs of the client.
The good thingsRabobank has a high focus on wellbeing by encouraging staff to take wellbeing days. My departments management team is always open to answer questions and assist with tasks if we require.
The challengesRabobank doesn't really have many challenges in my own personal experience of working here as they always evolve and take on staff feedback to better the company.

    Pinch of salt
The good thingsAgriknowledge and client focus is strong.
The challengesManagers (Melbourne office) who micromanage are hard to deal with. Processes are slow even though improve too slowly. No clear processes as policy are scattered so it's here and there when trying to make a decision. The disparity between departments. Used to offer 3 days WFH, now looking to cut short to 2 days and possibly further.

Will never work again for this bank and never refer anyone or recommend anyone. I hope the C-level knows about whats going on at the bottom.
The good thingsWork Life Balance and flexibility of working hours
The challengesEveryone is not given equal opportunities for promotions. Not the ones who deserve it and are really hard working. Only the ones who are good talkers and knows the team that posted the job personally

    Performance management unheard of
    The good thingsCustomers and product
The challengesLack of accountability, lack of clear goals, constantly changing goals (even during review period with little time to course-correct), knee-jerk reactions from management, poor behaviour ignored, constantly increasing workload (typically regulatory) with limited increases in people power and ineffective process improvements/systems to support, teams operate in a silo fashion, high staff turnover.

Definitely the nicest bank I’ve worked for, good people.
The good thingsMeaningful company to work for, more like a not for profit than a bank (no shareholders makes all the difference!) Very flat structure, the CEO is laidback and friendly. Values and purpose driven organisation.
The challengesHaving a global head office on the Netherlands can sometimes be challenging with less than optimal communication and some things pushed down from head office.

A great culture that is being impacted by a disconnected hub operational structure, but once this changes I am sure the business will return to normal.
The good thingsGood manager and great culture. This is a bank that understands agriculture, the importance of customer relationships and supports the right work life balance
The challengesPoor Hub work structure and accurately position descriptions are impacting the service proposition unfortunately but this may just be a cyclical change that won’t last

    Misguided, mismanaged.
The good thingsThe office location is great, however unbearable during work hours due to over crowding
The challengesManagement are out of touch and consumed with their own self serving agendas and politics. Zero investment is made in staff. Wages are consistently below market rate. Training is non-existent.
