    Soul sucking corporate hell hole
The good thingsFriendly coworkers that made work fun
The challengesAwful micromanaging, don’t work here if you don’t like to explain every minute of your day. I feel like the culture is extremely toxic and not understanding in regards to mental health and personal issues. You get accused of time wasting and call avoidance when you’re needing a break because you’re human and you needing to go to the bathroom, which in particular is difficult if you are a woman with your monthly cycle, especially if you have a heavy flow. I just felt truly unhappy here as I dealt with quite traumatic calls and managers didn’t want to bother with complex complaints even when the members were extremely upset. You are nothing but a pawn in this company and they will toss you out like you mean nothing. Do not work here if you value your sanity.

The good thingsGreat people, direct management and at least once removed are actually interested in feedback.
The challengesUnfortunately, pay rate whilst industry good, is not adequate.

    Extremely Disappointing - Toxic Workplace
The good thingsUnfortunately, my experience did not reflect the values RAC promotes publicly. Communication was poor, expectations were unclear, and the recruitment/onboarding process felt disorganised and impersonal. Concerns raised were not handled with professionalism or courtesy, and feedback was delivered in a way that felt unnecessarily dismissive rather than constructive. There was a noticeable lack of support, transparency, and basic respect — which was disappointing given RAC’s reputation and emphasis on customer service and people-first values.
The challengesThe experience fell well short of what I would expect from an organisation of this size and standing. I would encourage RAC to reflect on how they treat staff and candidates, as culture and communication matter just as much internally as they do for members. Unfortunately, the process did not reflect the professionalism or values one would expect from a large, established organisation. Prospective applicants should proceed with caution.

Awful place. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid at all costs.
The good thingsThere is nothing good about this place.
The challengesToxic work culture. All politics. The decisions the business makes creates a rod for their own back making things harder. Doing the job of 3-4 people because they don't hire enough people and staff turn over is constant. Too many lazy people stay getting away with everything, too many good hard working people quitting because of how bad it is there.

Its just like the episode of the Simpsons where Homer sells his soul for a donut
The good thingsthere is no good - i got paid i suppose but was so soul destroying even this wasnt worth it
The challengesThe most toxic environment you can imagine. People in positions of power that couldn't manage a lemonade stand. Constant unprofessionalism, lies (to the public too not just the staff), people being promoted because of who they know, and morale that is so far down the toilet its halfway round the s bend

Horrible place to work Positives are the mentors and the other workers you meet. It’s an incredibly toxic environment, too many people who get made to Team Leaders after 6 months (due to the sheer volume of staff that quit) They’re inexperienced to be “Leaders” … There are the occasional few who are amazing it’s a pity it’s only a few. Too many families & relatives working there in senior rolls so they will back each other up. The ridiculous scripted nonsense you have to say and the constant full identification checking (even after the member enters it all in the phone keypad) You get 4 seconds in between calls… and you’d want to hope you don’t drink a lot of water because you will be questioned where you went and why … ugh can’t wait to find another place to work.

Lovely staff, great company and values, management just too far out of touch.
The good thingsThe training period, people within your team, collaborative work environment, opportunities for community volunteering, flexibility with work and life balance
The challengesShort staff, high turnover and no real structure in replacing lost FTE. Overbearing and micro managing leader and leadership style that is out of touch with its staff. Too driven on KPI's and not celebrating success and hard work.

The good thingsThe flexibility and real community feel. No one is trying to stab you in the back and everyone genuinely wants to support you.
The challengesSlightly out-dated systems in Joondalup location, but new systems in West Perth.

I am greatfull that I was taken back after I left chasing money and the new company misled me ,thank you Rac for supporting me along my journey and willing to take me back after I left chasing money, thank for also taking time to help develop my skills and having so much growth possibilities, thank especially to my operations and network manager for backing me and thank you for my general manager for taking me back
The good thingsThere is a good work life balance if you work for any dealer you sell your soul and they burn you out here everyone has a balance, they also support you in all challenges I left and went to a dealer chancing Money a realised I made a mistake ,Rac was nice to give me my old job back and I’m greatfull
The challengesSalary are ok compared to market and they give yearly increases that you don’t get at dealers

A fantastic start, soul destroying by end.
The good thingsThe training and first 2 weeks out on the floor is second to none, absolutely fantastic training led by some great people who you make relationships with easily. Co workers are great and this job has all the foundations of a great workplace.
The challengesAndddd everything that I mentioned then is absolutely destroyed by the management and Team Leaders. Micro managing is an understatement, you are watched and pestered all day by your ‘leader’ who is so out of touch with what is working. Once you faulter at all on your KPI’s you’re shamefully fired whilst they train another 10 people every fortnight without fault.

RAC are not for the better
The good thingsDirect co-workers / team I had a great relationship with all my staff. From the 2IC all down to the car detailer and apprentices. I only wish the best for every one of them. 25% discount on insurance.
The challengesUpper management. Mainly the direct "Operations Manager" and his lap dog "network manager". These two constantly patting each other on the back stealing peoples dignity and should be disgusted in themselves. I got paid to handle disputes and shut my mouth while RAC auto services handed out NDA's to customers to try and save face. The perks are not worth your soul people. This place is a cult behind a billion dollar smile. I heard stories of RAC going through employees. Theyre all true. RAC auto services have 10 centres and have gone through nearly 10 managers in 12 months. Not to mention 2IC's. The stress is not worth it. Dealing with upper management especially the two mentioned is not worth it. This is a typical billion dollar company using people to create more billions no matter the cost.

    Horrendous.
The good thingsReasonable work location and office
The challengesDisgustingly high work demands for a job that doesn’t pay anywhere near enough for what they expect. Completely unrealistic benchmarks for their employees. Horrendous customer service, you barely have the ability to help anybody.

The good thingsIt looks good from the outside
The challengesArchaic work expectations that are not current or relevant in today's modern society. Not inclusive. Toxic HR culture. Being put through unnecessary processes to cause stress and anxiety on staff - who are actually the people in the community that they claim they care and look after

Promising at first, but then a complete disaster.
The good thingsThere are still some really good people working there who will always have your back, you just have to know where to find them and then keep them very close.
The challengesAn absolutely toxic culture rife with people who should never have been placed into their positions. If you do not fit the mold, forget about it. All of the talk of community, members and inclusion is just a front. If you enjoy being micro-managed and force fed the company line on a daily basis, go right ahead.

    Bitter sweet.
The good thingsWorking for a company that helps the state and holds events, feel apart of something bigger, meeting great people that you work with.
The challengesrecognition for employees, management hierarchy and low pay compared to the market rate with onsite tools “ too expensive” to replace to keep up with expected efficiency/ productivity rates. Profit margin driven business.

Great to work for a purpose lead company, would like their approach to be more modern.
The good thingsThe company does great things for the state and generally speaking the people you work with are amazing.
The challengesIt is a very old company and so it’s practices and approaches are old and steeped in bureaucracy. I also think the disparity between the salary and market rate sets them back in finding the right people for the right roles and keeping them.

Best place to work, such amazing, supportive friendly staff.
The good thingsThe interview process was quick and easy. After having my interviews I found out without hours that I had successful in the role, rather than it taking a few days / not hearing anything at all. The sign up process was simple, with clear instructions on how to provide my details. Overall a very simple, easy process. I have been in the role for a few days and the team is absolutely lovely. I would highly recommend this place to work for.
The challengesThe only challenge so far is there are so many names to learn.
