    Civils may work but don't bother if it's on a mine site
    The good things8 & 6 roster My work colleagues were great, a good team.
    The challengesUpper Management is not helpful, makes unhelpful comments, refused to change things that are not working. New Job with staff who didn't know what they were doing in charge and making things difficult, yet they were praised and told they were doing a great job when actually they were causing so many issues for us and the client. Toxic.

    The good thingsGood working environment, sense of teamwork, fantastic entry level position to get a good exposure to the civil construction industry.
    The challengesTraveling to and from site, it seems that most of the job sites are either at the extreme north or south of Perth.

    Good short term experience in the land development sector for those coming fresh out of university.
    The good thingsAs a site engineer, you are given a work vehicle, but fuel is obtained from site. The working hours are dependant on the time of the year. The experience for a graduate or junior engineer is good coming out of university. Chance to work as a junior supervisor from a site engineering role. Company uses old methods for road construction, but a good foundation for those starting in the role.
    The challengesThe work can be fairly repetitive at times. You may be required to drive long distances to site, or in the opposite direction from home, even though there is a company project near your area. Not being challenged mentally. Doing physical work on the field, such as penetrometer testing.

    The good thingsI worked as an assistant surveyor, I found the culture and working environment to be very friendly and thriving to meet deadlines and work at the highest standard.
    The challengesAs I was new to this industry I had learn quickly and keep up with the pressures of expectations my job required. Working with the senior surveyor made this very easy as he had brought up many in my position before.
