    Don't work for Roy Morgan!
    The good thingsGood work colleagues
The challengesManagement is terrible - they lack best practice, fairness, integrity, strategy and have the most shocking human resources. A toxic work culture creates a constructive dismissal environment. This is easily the work market research company I've ever worked for! .

    I couldn't wait to leave
The good thingsA good starting job, hours and days were flexible during the week when I first started here.
The challengesShift hours were cut back after a while from 5hrs to 4.5hrs. Targets are to reach 3 surveys per shift which can be very difficult to achieve sometimes. The survey is very long and reading the same survey over and over is extremely tedious. Interviewers have to deal with extremely rude people and unacceptable language and content on the phones at times. We used to be able to chat with other employees between calls or via the company message system, which was a great means if support in this type of work, but this was stopped so there is no comradery among employees. Employees are expected to work weekend shifts, both Saturday and Sunday, but weekend penalty rates are not paid at all.

It seems like the executives (or upper management) are ruining this company. There's so much potential there for RM to be a great employer but that potential is snuffed out by people in upper management who don't seem to view the people working the phones as human. That's just the vibe I got.
The good thingsRM has a lot of potential to be an amazing employer. That's why I was so disappointed about the negative aspects because the potential is there. There's lots of flexibility, autonomy in the role & you get a different manager every shift so that gives you varied feedback and help to work with. The pay rate per hour is also good.
The challengesRM is the only employer in the call centre industry I've known to tell employees to accept being sworn at on the phone. This is a huge break with industry norms. Their EAP service is fake. If you ever need to use it you'll find out what I mean by that. If you ever find yourself needing technical support - good luck. There is none. The vibe I got, overall, was that lower level management mostly mean well & appreciate the stressors of the job and it seems that they want to be supportive but there's people upstairs (as it were) barking orders down that don't match with the realities of the job.

Reliable and ProfessionalThey provided adequate training and were very helpful as and when necessary. I was provided the required "tools of trade" which makes the working experience manageable. T1800 were always available for support and queries. My issue was just the required minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 1 weekend work, which should not be pushed, since Field Research Officers (FROs) are casual employees. On the other hand, I still like the independence and taking charge of my work days and hours, which the job somehow allowed me to have.

Genuinely useful job, but horrible to actually do, and the company has no respect for that
The good things- aims of the project and company are genuinely for the public good - strong data privacy practices
The challenges- severe under training for the role, no supervision or coaching except "do more more often" - fears for safety in the field, the areas I was sent out to didn't seem to be vetted at all for suitability - staff helpline literally quoted the handbook back at me when I called for help

Great place to start your career. Most of the coworkers are quite friendly and helpful. But once you get enough experience, move out!
The good thingsGreat place to start your career. Most of the coworkers are quite friendly and helpful.
The challengesManagers, team leaders, and higher-ups are toxic; micromanagement is common here, so don't be surprised. The salary is relatively low compared to the market average.

a good first job but there are some issues
The good thingsyou are able to work remotely as a call interviewer which is a huge bonus and gives you a lot of control to improve how you perform your interviews. As well as this i was 17 when i started and at that age the pay was great and the hours are perfect for people studying or still in school.
The challengesmanagement only helps you when your doing something wrong and many of them aren’t as active during shifts as they should be. when working remotely this is really troublesome sometimes especially since you need answers to questions as soon as possible while interviewing people. A huge issue was how the company handles their quota. You have an IPR which is meant to help you gauge how you are performing in comparison to other people during your shift. by the end of my work i realised after doing their given calculations myself that although i was performing average or above average for my shift i was being marked as much lower which is pretty manipulative.

Being set unrealistic Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
The good thingsYou are able to manage your own workload with other personal commitments. Working outdoors on your own, I found thus was pleasant on the whole.
The challengesWorking outdoors in extremely hot and humid conditions.Unrealistic expectations of achievements from the Management. It was impossible to achieve expected KPI's, if the work was conducted ethically. Therefore, when KPI's were not met, shifts were not allocated.

It's been a good experience overall, however after attending 16 hours on the field auth all sorts of weather, you then have to have an argument to validate your pay claim and expense.
The good thingsWorking weekends which frees up time during the week. Ability to manage your own time and travel to different areas and locations.
The challengesThe survey itself is very long. Being a two part survey, the first part takes well over an hour to complete depending on responses from respondents. Particularly if they're in business. Then convincing respondents to compete the two Poll Books and return them by due date.

Great temporarily job with independence and some time management options. Sometimes difficult to manage with own timetables
The good thingsThe work environment was quite good. You have independence to conduct your work and some freedom to manage you time depending on the project you are working on.
The challengesMost of the work is conducted on weekends or when most interviewees are available (i.e. late afternoons/evenings) which could clash with your own family schedules

A good job for the right person, but physically and mentally tough.
The good thingsBeing outdoors and keeping fit, interacting with and interviewing nice interesting people. Plenty of hours (but only on weekends) with generous mileage payments.
The challengesBeing outdoors on 40 degree days and hailstorms! Knocking on 40 doors and only getting 4 interviews - you have to be good with rejection (which can be quite rude), and be motivated even when you haven't achieved anything. Management support was very poor, one individual had too many people to look after. Finally the interview itself is very frustrating, long and repetitive and going into ridiculous detail which made most participants regret letting me in to their home.
