    A management induced deathspiral.
The good thingsStudents and your peers in the teaching and support staff are wonderful. Courses are built with care and intent to give students plenty of opportunities to grow creatively. Industry experts teach the classes, meaning it's a good entry point to a teaching career from a creative field.
The challengesPoor decisions by management that lead to easily avoided issues if they would just speak with or listen to staff. These problems then become the responsibility of staff to fix because management lack any long term plan. Workloads are intensive and progression is reliant more on your time in the business than your contributions or performance.

I highly recommend you work at SAE.
The good thingsExperienced, empathetic, transparent and supportive leaders are there to guide you in your work and your career development. Excellent facilities, equipment and flexibility. The best company culture I have ever worked in. I can honestly say I look forward to going to work everyday.
The challengesPay is fair, but a performance based pay increase is difficult to attain without a promotion.

A respectful employer with a mission worth believing in; I would gladly come back to work here again.
The good thingsSAE has an outstanding culture and ethos that is apparent in the management teams, the teachers, and the student body. I really enjoyed my time working at SAE and was proud of what we were trying to achieve and the experience and opportunities we wanted to provide to our students. I was treated professionally and with respect, I worked with some incredible people who were passionate about their craft, I also believed in the direction of the company and felt that they lived their values.
The challengesCovid has been incredibly challenging for every educational institution, SAE notwithstanding. It's difficult to be operating in such an uncertain environment but I honestly feel that SAE was able to navigate this situation about as well as anyone could be expected to.

    Don't dare to care
The good thingsFantastic staff and students.
The challengesNo communication from management. No care for personal circumstances. Incredible workload for no extra pay. A very commercial view of education, to the detriment of all involved.

Great team. Severely low pay - not inline with other education providers
The good thingsThe team you are surrounded by are awesome- they are what inspires you to continue. The benefits of working here such as after hours access are a perk.
The challengesSeverely underpaid staff, no opportunity for promotion or pay increases. Employees are overworked endlessly and are expected to give more and more each trimester despite no reflection of this in remuneration.

    Over worked, under paid
The good thingsmost people genuinely care about their fellow staff and students. The people culture on the campus is good and campus leaders support us as much as they can
The challengesthe pace of change is relentless and teachers are never consulted. Curriculum changes are brought in with no notice and staff are expected to adjust to them with little or no training. They pay minimum wage but expect your blood sweat and tears

    Best job I've ever had.
The good thingsSAE is filled with passionate, can-do people at all levels of the company. People care and help each other. Facilities are first class and the walls are filled to the brim with creative go getters.
The challengesIt's a commercial environment so everything we do matters and we can't get complacent as an organisation. The pace of change is fast but the team are extremely responsive. Personally, I find those challenges extremely rewarding.

Potential for a great employer, not there yet.
The good thingsI enjoyed the freedom and variety of the role
The challengesI found the general disorganisation to be stressful. There is confusion still around what is SAE, what is Navitas. No clear hierarchical reporting structure. With this lack of clarity and communication comes frustrations between both employer and employee. You need averything in writing and a process clearly set out of you want anything set in stone and avoid frustrations

Great people, great students, good challenges
The good thingsReacting quickly to the needs of the education market means rapid developments and eagerness to carefully monitor and develop programs. The students love it, the staff are a terrific bunch of people, lots of positive challenges.
The challengesIt is a commercial college with commercial pressures. The rate of change is breath-taking, and a little daunting ... but also exciting!

Good place to start your career if you have no experience, money is not a motivation or are close to retiring and are available to give back to young, upcoming creative media producers.
The good thingsGreat place to work with fascinating people and great culture. The staff is genuinely interested in developing students as better human beings through creative media studies. Flexible work arrangements and rewarding experiences in the classroom adds to the job satisfaction. Career opportunities are good if you have the drive and are willing to relocate at short notice.
The challengesPay is below the industry average. Career development can be limited on local campuses.

Money grabbers with no employee loyalty.
The good thingsGreat people and facilities.
The challengesMicromanagement and no consideration for employees work-life balance. In addition, many lecturers are hired graduates with little on-job experience (I went in with 10+ years and was paid the same).

6 months at SAE has been more rewarding and fruitful than the last 6 years in the industry!
The good thingsWorking alongside staff with industry experience is both inspiring and incredibly helpful; haring stories and trade secrets from the inside is an added bonus, too! Lecturers are extremely talented and thorough practitioners, and come from a background of field practice and high quality education. This is what makes Brisbane's student body such high achievers.
The challengesCommunication can be tricky at times, however regularly team meetings easily irons out problems, allowing for individuals to have their issues discussed in person, and their needs met on a daily basis.

Better than I expected, but not as good as it should be.
The good thingsGood people and good culture. The company is growing quickly, both in size and quality.
The challengesManagement keeps asking more and more work from their employees, and aren't paying competitively. The work / life balance is getting a little worse every year.

A lot of promise with not much delivered
The good thingsGood people, good for experience and upping your skills. Some good perks like fruit two time a week. Hard work of group noticed and rewarded with occasional lunches. Monthly birthdays cakes for staff with a brithday that month.
The challengesLow pay packets, not much external training, documentation lacking, hard to get decision approved, large corporations so it is hard to follow who you report to. Campuses dont work together ther compeat against each other.
