New Key Account Manager has no idea
The good thingsSome great guys in the team
The challengesThe new Key Account Manager has no idea what he is doing, and we are losing contracts because of him. Hiring staff with no experience within the industry is doing damaging to the company. He can't talk to people, has no customer service skills at all, and has no idea about the products within the company

    Work somewhere else.
The good thingsThe pay is about the only thing good here, but the expectations are insane
The challengesWhilst I appreciate businesses are here to make money, to do it to the absolute detriment of your staff and customers, whilst management all pat each other on the back is a bit low.

Great company however new management came in and ruined it all
The good thingsGreat team members in the call centre and manager at the time was awesome, job was easy, great bonuses during Christmas break, company was awesome to work for end of year activities for employees to bring family and Christmas presents
The challengesNew Management took over and it all went down hill turned into a toxic environment to be in, some team members complained more than others just became an environment you did not want to be in

    Terrible place for your career.
The good thingsGreat people across some departments, they have been there for a long time
The challengesPeople have been there for a long time, which makes it feel like a government company. Very hard to change things as they are used to their old ways. No processes or procedures in writing, so everything is in the air. Which makes things complex as everything is changed by whim of one senior finance individual. Finance is led by people who are not supportive and who don't listen. Whenever you call or ask via an email, expect to not get an answer or never get a reply, so there's quite a lot of things that you need to "figure it out by yourself". No training provided in a very complex environment. Management is totally absent, so you are let yourself to your own luck. No real career opportunities within finance and the teams are really stretched. I would definitely not recommend this place if you are looking to continue your career. Don't be lured by the salary or perks, as at the end of the day it does not match the amount of work you do.

The good thingsGood company culture, management that have experience and try their best to accommodate, Schindler has good training and progression available
The challengeslack of staff "this isn't a Schindler unique issue", getting flexible arrangements in a field role

The challengesBig company with many processes which can take getting use to but is a really good thing.

    Soul destroying place to work
The good thingsThey are quite diverse and salary is competitive. Opportunities to progress. Some great people to work with in the trenches.
The challengesUsed to be an amazing company to work for but with the toxic masculinity at the top and more concern for profit than customer or employee satisfaction, it turned into a horrible working environment which was completely under resourced, added significant pressure and no work life balance due to extremely long hours & stresses. Impossible to deliver on contracts and keep customers happy. No support or understanding, even when providing evidence.

The good thingsGreat colleagues in pretty much all departments. Good pay. New management encourage safety without compromise. Very supportive for development opportunities and often promote from within if you put the work in.

As a whole Schindler is a great company to work for, with a huge variety of roles across the business and plenty of opportunities for internal advancement if desired.
The good thingsThe people and the variety of work. You could be working on a small suburban project one week and a major project in the CBD the following week. Schindler is also very supportive of employees wishing to enrol in tertiary education, providing an Employee Education Program to assist financially with the course costs, provided it is relevant to your role or will benefit the business in some way.
The challengesThe construction industry as a whole can be very demanding and if you don't manage your work/life balance it can become exhausting. That said, Schindler actively encourages people to invest in themselves and take time off and also provides EAP systems that employees can avail of if necessary.

Once a great culture and now.........
The good thingsSome excellent technical people and also other dedicated commercial people
The challengesThe culture is driven by the Exec and it isn't good. Some are over promoted and making decisions based on ego not business sense and experience. A career development program not accessible to those over 30 years of age.

Not a place that you would want to work.
The good thingsSome brilliant technical people, fantastic ground level staff.
The challengesManagement were not interested in assisting with the development of the business. There was a significant blame culture, leading to alienating particular employees. A very negative place to try to work.

Gained good experience is surviving in a toxic culture.
The good thingsMaking great friends, helping others develop trade skills, remuneration was ok, developed great mechanical skills and worked in a variety of areas.
The challengesThe current management were demotivating and rarely encouraged nor rewarded good hard work and great skills over people who simply ticked off completed services. The attitude that ''anyone can be a lift mechanic" is quite a challenge to overcome and be motivated

    Disappointing
The good thingsGreat office setup with modern technology. Friendly staff and great working colleagues that offer support.
The challengesManagement offer little support and expect huge hours on a salary. Internal cost reviews are an expectation yet no training is provided on how to satisfy this requirement. Staff often used as a scapegoat to shift blame away from management.

The good thingsTo begin with the company appeared to be a good one to work for. The pay was initially quite good for role but then more hours started to be expected.

    Miserable
The good thingsGood money, they pay well, if you don't mind spending your hours in a dark gloomy environment and working most weekends this may be the job for you.
The challengesPoor management, they preach safety yet urge you not to practice it when it suits them. If you like money this is a good job, however be prepared to spend entire days in a hole in the wall.

The good thingsThe culture - everyone works hard to support each other. The company truly believes in engagement and making sure employees are happy and find meaning in what they do.
The challengesThe company is growing very rapidly, so making sure we grow in a controlled way and that our processes and systems keep up
