    BEWARE! High staff turnover levels!
The good thingsPublic transport close by
The challengesBEWARE! they advertise as fixed-term contract and then give you a casual contract with 1 hour notice. Extremely high turnover and toxic workplace culture.

A masterclass in how not to run a company
The good thingsPays reasonably well due to the level of dysfunction you have to endure.
The challengesAvoid this place at all costs. Joining Senex was the biggest regret of my career. There’s no such thing as front-end engineering or proper planning — everything is reactive and last-minute, dictated by shifting priorities. Management is too busy playing Game of Thrones while the rest of the business scrambles to deliver with no direction or accountability. Staff turnover is a revolving door, but instead of fixing the causes, they hire capable people just to box them in and ignore input. Micromanagement is next-level — it filters down from the top and makes the day-to-day feel suffocating. There’s zero focus on personal growth, team building, or developing a healthy culture. All that matters is the latest “urgent” thing, chased obsessively like a Labrador until it changes again — rinse and repeat. Toolboxes are corporate gas-lighting sessions where leadership pretends everything is fine while the place quietly burns. If you value your health & sanity, give this place a strong miss.

Worst career decision I have ever made joining this business.
The good thingsOffice is close to public transport.
The challengesBrisbane office has a really bad culture. People hardly talk to each other and don't even say hello. Turnover is incredibly high. Management make excuses for really poor employee feedback rather than actually implementing anything to improve the experience. Some senior managers are extremely rude. There is no regard for work life balance and no interest in flexible working, even though this is something that is advertised on the website. This company is just so far behind the times, it is like stepping back 10 years. All this company cares about is reaching their 60PJ production target and will sacrifice employees to achieve it.

It’s been a demanding time—I wish I’d left within the first month, but I ended up staying for two years, and now I regret it!
The good thingsMost of the people are genuinely friendly and want to help you succeed in the role.
The challengesMy role was incredibly demanding, and I felt pushed to my limits daily. Like many teams at Senex, we seemed to be short-staffed, leading to a lot of ad hoc requests that didn’t align with what my team actually did. Decision making within the company was often slow, with the same issues being revisited multiple times, with the issue often coming up months later as it was never resolved the first time round. Extremely frustrating and this never got better in my couple of years at Senex. Company turnover seems to be high, with people in every team leaving and starting each week.

Can feel like a hard slog for average pay. Some teams seem to churn through staff.
The good thingsClose to public transport
The challengesManagement change their mind on various items every 2-3 weeks, without considering the impact on the people who need to gather the information or what effect it will have on the wider business groups. Colleague groups can be cliquey and it can be hard to break in.

Overall not a pleasant place to work and HR was not supportive when you raise concerns about the work life balance although it's a key value they advertise on the website, but not something they support. Felt tormented multiple times and the managers and HR didn't take any notice or any actions although the concerns were raised many times. I would avoid working in this company at any cost and have heard similar stories from other collogues as well.
The good thingsThe salary was market competitive.
The challengesThe expectation of the management and the leadership itself was appalling.

An enjoyable journey thus far enabling new relationship development and an opportunity to help steer the direction of a growing company.
The good thingsA great working environment and culture with everyone pushing in the same direction. Office location is a perk, being so close to Central station and other central city amenities. Plenty of great experience embedded within the organisation.
The challengesSenex is looking to grow and with growth comes the standard growing pains that all companies experience, including system updates, process and procedural change, and organisational structure change. While these are challenges, they are also necessary for Senex to reach its growth objectives.

Challenging, however not in the areas that are rewarding
The good things- Some good colleagues that lead to friendships - Gave me a job when I needed one - Small company, some scope to get involved in projects beyond can be done with larger organization, however without the resources and support of a larger company - Job is good for an entry-level technical person, but beyond that there is limited opportunity to learn and progress technically
The challenges- Typical day was disorganised and reactive at best - Recently became middle management heavy, and lacking relevant technical experience. Far too much time spent \"educating\" management. Although this should change over time - There is no formalised or technical training. Be prepared to focus purely on the specifics of your job description - Company has a \"cliquey\" culture - Questionable ethics where boosting share price is the ultimate goal - ie, value of profit above all inevitably leads to taking risks to get things done.

    Horrible experience. Best to avoid
The good thingsLeaving the company. Couldn't stand the culture.
The challengesHorrible culture that flows frrom the top down. Company rewards toxic peolle. Culture of cutting ideas and people down. A culture of swapping out senior managers often, senior positions are a reloving door. Top executives don't care for employees. You will realise the mistake you made to take up the job after a few months. Senior managers desperately need to be replaced to drive a refreshed culture through the company that cares for employees.

Very policitical, lack of technical experience among some managers, a bit amateur if you have worked before in major oil and gas companies
The good thingsNice location. Some good individuals.
The challengesSome managers have no technical experience. Senior exexcs get “above average” salaries and bonuses. “Us” and “them” mentality between senior managers and staff CEO. Very limited opportunity for professional growth or development. You will absolutely be treated as a cog in a machine. Culture of rushing projects through. Very quick changes in direction by management, sometines circling back to the original position. Culture of towing the line to the management position and disregarding sometimes professional/ technical advice. Very political culture which is surprising for such a small company. A bit of an amateur attempt at an oil and gas company.

The opportunity with the most promise, that ended in disappointment for so many involved.
The good thingsPay was top range. At the beginning it was fun when we were 35 people.
The challengesManagement has trouble win the truth and lacks technical experience. Top executives are let go frequently.

The first 2 years of my time with Senex would be the best company I have worked for, the last 2 years, the company and management really started to struggle with the companies rapid growth and failed to maintain the great work environment that the busines
The good thingsOpportunity to make an impact in the overall company success.
The challengesManagement can be a challenge. Also the current downturn in Oil & Gas sector, the work environment has taken a negative vibe regarding future of employees.

    A dynamic fast moving company
The good thingsThere was lots of scope to make the role your own.
The challengesA lot of uncertainty sometimes in what the business strategy was, which seemed to come from a constantly changing focus in Management.
