The company’s emphasis on diversity is commendable, but its convoluted salary review process, reluctance to address pay disparities, and promotion practices favoring diversity over merit undermine employee trust and morale.
The good thingsThe company’s focus on diversity is commendable and reflects an effort to align with modern workplace values. Teams work well together, and there are opportunities for collaboration and professional growth if sought proactively.
The challengesThe salary review process is overly complex and lacks transparency. Instead of aligning pay with market standards, the company tends to adopt the lower end of salary bands, leaving employees feeling undervalued. When discrepancies in pay are highlighted, the leadership team (ELT) tends to shift the blame onto employees for having accepted lower pay in the past, with no effort to address or correct these disparities. Promotion decisions often appear skewed towards meeting diversity goals rather than being based on merit, which can undermine trust and morale among employees.
