Slowly turning into another corporate money spinner, no longer a community company.
The good thingsGood people work there and the customers are nice although they are aware it's no longer the company it claims to be.
The challengesThey do not care about staff, Suncorp have corporatised the company completely, purging knowledgeable staff for management pleasers. Middle management is a haven for ladder climbers and management focused on bonuses rather than staff wellbeing. I had more "Team leaders" than years at the company. The company is a warning of what can happen when big corporations take over independent businesses, they sanitize and only value profit, definitely not their customers.

Perfect opportunity to get your foot in the door and work in a company with a great cultureWhilst the systems and training can be intense for some at the beginning, once you are through induction and on your own the job is incredibly easy for anyone with half a brain. You get to talk to customers about their cars all day and whilst this can get monotonous over time, there are many opportunities to progress your career.
Those that complain about not being able to progress into new roles, or being micromanaged, are usually those that will remain in entry level roles their whole lives due to poor behaviours like excessive leave, turning up late for work, or complaining that they have to take phone calls (when that's literally the job description).
Whilst the call volumes are high due to the rapid growth of the brand, management is incredibly supportive when it comes to career progression and development, and it is very common for driven employees to move from a frontline position into a new role within the first 6-12 months of their career, but these opportunities won't just be handed to you for turning up and doing the bare minimum.
There are great events on most weekends in the showroom sights, and it's great being able to go into the kitchen and speak to someone about their car or bike and know that you immediately have that common interest.

A waste of time and effort. Do not even bother applying.
This is pretty much AAMI with a pretend "car enthusiast" label slapped on top of it.
The good thingsGreat coworkers, friendly work environment, discounted insurance and products.
The challengesToxic work environment, forced sales targets, no guarantee of bonuses or job security. Lack of care when training new staff, leading to customer dramas. Management do not care about staff well-being and are not Enthusiasts. You're just a number to them. Constant customer complaints, so expect to be treated badly by all customers over the phone. Awful pay for a job that requires extensive knowledge and training. No career progression.

Don’t do it, there’s more supportive workplaces out there with upper management who care about their staff, Shannon’s is not that place
The good thingsCustomers are nice but that’s about it
The challengesManagement aren't interested in helping new staff find their feet, very toxic workplace lots of fake promises that you’ll have support for as long as you need but it’s not true,

Very quickly you are going to be firefighting doing all sales and UW roles within the company, the turnover is enormous with the enormous workloads you are expected to do on a shift.
The good thingsSuncorp group discounts and offers
The challengesImmediate training to do all roles with no extra bonuses or payrises

Unfortunately, senior leadership is now commanded by non enthusiasts as directed by Suncorp to turn the brand from a independent entity which achieved massive success into a 'green AAMI'. Every move is scrutinised, office culture is toxic and nobody is willing to own mistakes.
The good thingsWorking with likeminded people makes the day enjoyable.
Repetitive work if you like to stay in your comfort zone.
Attending Events.
The challengesConstant change of regulations, constant change of systems that do not improve processes, lack of direction, high turnover/burnout of staff, lack of true leadership by senior management,

Loved my time at Shannons.
The good thingsThe culture and team environment are excellent. As good as you'll find in a contact centre. Lots of opportunities for Overtime and able to talk to like-minded customers.
The challengesGoalposts can change, but that's part of the industry. You need to be adaptive to change.

Just don't apply, save yourself the grief. Its sounds great but overall it isn't.
The good thingsIf you are a car / bike person this is the perfect place to see amazing collections and talk about them all day everyday to like minded people.
The challengesManagement, they promote people who have no idea on how to manage people. Unless you are a friend of a boss you cant go anywhere and everyone is looking to complain about how bad everyone else is doing. There is no leadership from the EGM down in relation to its people, the managers don't know how to encourage people or give constructive feedback. Sharing knowledge or information does not happen but you are expected to know everything and when you don't you have people with no leadership credentials or knowledge of systems used telling you how things are supposed to be done.

Look at it as a stepping stone, and nothing more.
The good thingsFront line team leaders will do their best to look after your best interests, overtime opportunities were good.
The challengesMiddle and upper level management trying to leave their mark and making change simply for the sake of it, slowly turning the company into just another aami call center

The good thingsGetting out and seeing some motoring events, getting to meet the occasional motorsports legend
The challengesBattery hen environment thanks to being bought out by large company, great company for customers but not for staff. You're just a number which is why their staff turnover is ever increasing.
Always advertising for this reason
