If you want to grow, stay away
The good thingsThe team in my store were great, made coming to work better.
The challengesToo much pressure on Managers, not enough support higher up, "committed to growth" is not a thing with Skechers, can never get a hold of your area manager, no longer do conferences just "zoom meetings, dropped "awards nights" so drive to be better.

Fast paced, amazing product, great support and never bored.
The good thingsGreat product, lots of room for growth, fast paced, lots of communication.
The challengesBeing a fast paced global brand means the standards are high and this can be challenging for people just picking up a pay check or generally not looking for a challenge.

Do not work here as a full or part time employee. Only consider casual work as at least you will be paid well. Some casuals earn more than the managers do and don't have the responsibility that managers do. You are expected to wear Skechers if you are employed here, however they do not supply them for you and will make you pay for them.
The good thingsSometimes you got to have some fun moments with customers.
The challengesPaid below national average for retail store managers. Unrealistic sales targets and shocking bonus scheme. If you are good at your job, you will receive less support than other stores. Will gaslight you into working through sickness and will guilt trip you for leave.

    Read this before applying!!!
The good thingsThe discount is the only perk you get, but everything is so expensive that even with the discount, you are still spending around $100, which isn't great when they give everyone such inconsistent hours.
The challengesAWFUL management, the managers very clearly choose favourites to give all the hours to, they don't even try to hide it, but they also are never straight up with anyone, making weak excuses why they've taken away your shift the day before it was scheduled. The environment is also so bad, because Skechers is so money hungry, EVERYTHING is about sales, and they have zero care for their employees or customers, MANY OF OUR STORES WERE FORCED TO SELL MOULDY SHOES AROUND CHRISTMAS AND NOT TELL ANYONE, and prepare to be micromanaged because there will always be a manager listening to you, watching you and criticising the smallest things, even if you don't actually do them?? Everyone is constantly pitted against each other, and it never feels like a team because they encourage competitiveness and are constantly comparing everyone. It's just such a toxic workplace, and there are no other perks besides the 40% discount (which is our average sale price anyway), and the bonus is 1% of your sales every month, only if the store reaches the usually unreasonable targets for the entire month and keeps the wages low, this is usually not even enough to cover a bag of groceries, also we don't even get Christmas parties.

Only care about sales. Not you.
The good thingsThe team I worked with at the store I was at.
The challengesDon’t take days off if you’re actually sick… they used it against my performance. I’ve since resigned and have not received any thanks or wishes for my future endeavours as I do previous employers. So rude!

A company that needs to accept and adapt to changing times for their employees sake
The good things- Get paid better than most retailers - Monthly bonuses
The challenges- Terrible work/life balance for in management positions. The company harp on about ;ACCEPT, ADAPT AND ACCELERATE' to the current times but they are not accepting that their employees also have a life outside of work, adapting to the fact many retailers are doing rotating rosters so management don't have to work every weekend. They lose good team members because of this. If they would accept and adapt to their employees the company would accelerate more than they are. They'd keep management in positions for longer and keep them motivated. - Micro-managed - You get a 40% discount only on shoes that you sell within your own store, otherwise you have to visit a store to purchase them. You cannot order shoes for personal use or even order online.

Best place I’ve worked at yet however company has room for improvement!
The good thingsOpen work space with a happy environment and good music. Reasonably relaxed job that comes with a good discount. Management are very kind and you can have banter with them but not super help (read below). I’m very close with all my peer workers, very supportive company and have helped me a lot with needing time off etc. in my sort time in retail (only about 3 years) it is the best job I’ve had and will continue to work with the company.
The challengesLots of pressure from upper level management to workers to hit targets. Very money hungry business (like everywhere) and it is evident. I’ve tried to proceed in the business and have asked to step up several times now and been told I will get too and they are going to train me but have no once put anything in writing or offered me a higher role. Management are lovely people however are very slow to sort out issues. Have put my own time and money into the store I work at as they are not always proactive in fixing things like broken vacuums. They only give you a small limit to order for stationary and don’t take into account cleaning materials.

    Unfair, demoralising and humiliating.
The good thingsThe only good thing about this role was the discount across many of the companies other brands
The challengesFeeling equal, having fair rostering, feeling like you had to conform to a certain way of living to fit it, higher management having no interest in listening or addressing problems

Horrible culture, disorganised upper level management, stressful environment
The good thingsDiscount across other brands e.g. converse, dr martens, vans Managers get free shoes and apparel occasionally
The challengesImmense amount of pressure from upper level management to store managers, with very little support Area managers don't listen to store managers feedback/ideas and then blame them when sales targets aren't hit Very much a culture of area managers playing favourites with store managers
