    Horrible management but lovely co-workers
The good thingsGood training and friendly staff
The challengesHorrible management, higher ups have no idea what's going on within the lab itself and have ridiculous expectations set for low paid staff

This was the worst job I have ever had.
The good thingsSome nice staff members
The challengesSenior management do not listen or want to help the lab aides/technicians/smaller staff members. They ignore formal complaints made about head of departments.

Get trained then find another job
The good thingsSome of the staff are nice
The challengesManagement stuck in the 80s with no people skills, most of the department heads are very inexperienced with no knowledge or idea what they are doing. The pay is terrible, always understaffed, no career opportunities.

Don’t work here. If you do, get your training and leave immediately after.
The good thingsInitial training was quite good.
The challengesManagements only real goal is to meet KPIs. Don’t care about their staff. Pay and conditions are abysmal and you are worked to the bone to earn little money.

9 to 10 years in the role
Worth doing the nationally accredited course so you can stab people and make them bleed anywhere in Australia legally.
The good thingsLovely workmates and a friendly bond with our regular patients
The challengesNot having a regular advanced shift roster. Even though I was there for almost 10 years and permanent part-time, I was still treated as a casual that they could shift from one job to another without any notice at any time.

Not nearly as professionally run as it should be.
The good thingsMeeting new and interesting people.
The challengesDifficult collections can make or break your day. Lack of support from management and the 'that's how it worked when I started here' and 'junior staff can do the grunt work' mentality of senior staff makes working for this company difficult from the start. No roster exists for casuals leaving very little wiggle room to balance personal life and work, especially when you have school aged children. You can expect a message or call the night before and even the morning of your next shift with a new location to work. Having a sick day or saying no to a shift is often met with hostility and not receiving shifts for the following days is common practice, often at the expense of other staff. There is very little chance for Career development and even less chance to pick up part time or full time work. Unfortunately cons by far outweigh the pros.
