    There are grand plans for the future but nobody seems to have any idea about what's happening in the present. It's become a top heavy corporate driven business recently and while corporate hires 5 new people a week for head office the manufacturing side loses people left right and centre and no job ad goes up to replace anyone. Feels like I'm getting trained by a dozen people most days. I would avoid any team leader/management/office admin role. Pay is also 10-20% below market rate.

    The challengesEver increasing work load due to staff resignations, failure of SPC head office to pay suppliers puts extra pressure on everyone below, more and more head office corporate hands reaching into the manufacturing side

    The good thingsI have a great manager who is very supportive and trusts you to do the right thing rather than micromanage you.
    The challengesThe factory has a huge ‘us vs them’ attitude and don’t rate people in head office at all. Culture in the factory is poor.

    Great until approx. 5 years go, then became very demoralising, unfair, stressful and very unpleasant environment.
    The good thingsIn the earlier years of my many years working experience, there was a great working environment, friendly and supportive team atmosphere, good team leaders and management.
    The challengesIn recent years the atmosphere, culture and work ethic in management became very toxic.

    The challengesExtremely poor trade relations, participates in only three main categories all of which are in long term decline, ageing infrastructure and no unique or innovative NPD in pipeline.

    A classic case of business hemorrhaging under the weight of a need for change ego.
    The good thingsInitially the company was prepared to look at new thinking and support creativity.
    The challengesAfter a couple of years the management changed dramatically and the new management team wanted to create a new business structure that turned the business inside out. I suffered 3 major health problems in less than 18 months and had to leave as I couldn't work with them anymore.
