A place where innovation, commitment, collaboration, and student-centred values drive meaningful impact.
The good thingsWorking at SACS provides a meaningful opportunity to lead transformational change within a future-focused and ambitious school environment. I feel supported by school leadership and empowered to design innovative, research-informed programs that align with the school’s strong commitment to student-centred, holistic education. There is a culture of forward thinking, and I’ve experienced genuine backing for ideas that aim to improve student outcomes. The school’s central city location not only allows access to important external partnerships, but public transport options make daily travel easy for me. I also benefit from high-quality professional learning and development opportunities that support my growth.
The challengesLike any large and busy school, SACS has its day-to-day complexities, and change naturally takes time, but staff are collaborative, thoughtful, and committed to making progress.

Great community and sense of purpose.
The good thingsStaff are listened to and supported at all stages of life and career. Opportunities for professional development are excellent. The vision and values of the school community are known, shared and have a real impact on the staff and of course the students! Great leadership, who communicate clearly.
The challengesBeing inner city, we lack some of the outdoor spaces other schools might have (though there is access to city amenities and activities).

SACS is an educational community where staff are valued and contribute meaningfully to our students' lives with the aim of creating high character, thriving and genuine young people.
The good thingsHaving worked at St Andrew's Cathedral School, Sydney, for over 20 years, the list is substantial and varied, but the high quality of staff professionalism and collegiality is most prominent, and this is supported by excellent professional development and a conscientious focus on staff well-being.
The challengesMany of us commute to work and are subject to the public transport network, but we'd also consider it a blessing to be able to come together from all parts of Sydney to work in a city school.

A supportive, faith-driven school that values wellbeing, professional growth, and academic excellence.
The good thingsSACS is a tight knit community who prioritises the wellbeing of staff whilst balancing academic outcomes of students. The professional development programs are outstanding and the benefits for staff are excellent. It is authentically Christian, lived out through genuine care and integrity.
The challengesLimited access to outdoor space, which is a common constraint in city-based schools. While this can sometimes pose difficulties when planning experiential learning activities, we are fortunate to have access to a range of city-based resources, such as museums, galleries, and public spaces.

A workplace of values, vision, and vibrant culture.
The good thingsAmazing supportive colleagues, great leadership team that take time to review feedback, and make changes, listening to staff (and student) voices. The Professional Learning program is outstanding - it has programs for Early Career Teachers, Middle Managers, Leaders and even offers 1:1 Coaching.
The challengesNothing. Amazing school, staff and students

Depends on the faculty you’re in.
The good thingsThe location, the students
The challengesLeaders and management, unfair leadership appointments more based on favouritism and heavy workload. Enjoyment/satisfaction of your job also depends on which faculty you’re in as the leaders of departments are extremely varied in expectations and attitude.

Work-life balance is impossible if you want to do a good job
The good thingsClean place and overall good resources. The principal is a nice a reasonable person.
The challengesAwful staff rooms (small and crowded), classroom furniture is impractical, stuffy classroom as there is no fresh air ever coming through, unreasonable expectations for deadlines and amount of paper work, many students with learning difficulties who only receive support for a few subjects, no time provision to differentiate as it would be necessary for supporting these students, teachers have to do sports training supervision during the week and on Saturday mornings

Very grateful for the opportunities given to me and to the school as a whole but there are serious problems in the junior school that need to be fixed
The good thingsThe school and the brand are good but the management are really shocking. The turnover in the junior school is very high and the management don't have any personal interest other than their own
The challengesGetting along with management and always seeing staff leave
