Best decision I ever made to join Team St John!
The good thingsWarm and welcoming culture with a shared connection and dedication to the St John purpose.
The challengesLike other NFPs increasing revenue for growth and sustainability is a focus and achievable with a dedicated team. Can't wait see our strategic goals come to fruition!

    Don't waste your time.
The good thingsThe brand is the only good thing and the staff, but upper management is appalling. Toxic workplace. The fact they have had so many CEO's in such a short space is evident enough
The challengesThe organisation in Queensland is about 10 years behind the other states.

I would research a lot about company culture before accepting a role within the organisation as you’ll find micromanagement and winging it is somewhat how they hope to accomplish KPIs, if you like structure then it probably isn’t for you.
The good thingsSome of my work colleagues were great, the people I met day to day were fantastic to connect with and offer services that are much needed
The challengesManagement has no clear direction or long term strategy to determine success, a lot of impulsive decisions with no forethought of how goals are supposed to be accomplished, resources are misused and fingers are pointed when something happens without the understanding of accountability in a leadership position.

Proud to work for a company providing lifesaving training, community and humanitarian services.
The good thingsWork with a great team of people who are passionate about working for this not-for-profit organisation and our wonderful clients.
The challengesAs with most organisations, upper management can be out of touch with employees and their duties, however these issues lead to improvements and resolution.

The organisation's values are amazing and the volunteers are passionate but the management is bad and people are stressed and overworked.
The good thingsGreat people, passionate volunteers
The challengesToxic work environment, high staff turnover, policies and procedures are not in place, chronically understaffed, low wages.

I have enjoyed the experiences and opportunities that this organisation has given me personally.
The good thingsCompany with a long and highly respected history and strong brand. Great staff and volunteers to work along side. Delivering excellent charitable programs that sustain communities and build resilience.
The challengesCompetitive markets, and changing landscapes across multiple industries have challenged the organisation. Many charities vying for same funding and volunteer participation.

Great place to work and make a difference!
The good thingsSt John serves the community - the work has a purpose that goes beyond a job and an income
The challengesThe \"profit for purpose\" or \"self funded charity\" sector has many challenges including competing with fully commercial competitors for a share of the public and private market.

From the initial job interview to the Christmas Lunch/Farewell Party everyone at St John's was extraordinarily wonderful. There was never a moment i wished i had another job with other people.
The good thingsAll the staff are helpful, friendly and great to work with. I was able to work around being a single mother with 2 children without any problems.
The challengesThere are no limits with what you can do with the role, the job is anything and everything you want to make it.

If the right education was given to the local managers, the issues that are causing problems would be erased. But the wrong people are given too much leiway.
The good thingsI love to teach in an area that I have a lot of Knowledge. Helping the remote area's of QLD to save lives and make better health decisions.
The challengesLocal management is poor. They only pay 5 hours a day. so for an 8 hour course your only paid 5. The pay master is not up to day with the latest taxation boundaries and you pay too much tax. local management cannot guarantee that you will be reimbursed any costs out of your own pocket due to inadequate management.
