I did enjoy it till the team blindsided me.
The good thingsWas a great location to work in. Meeting customers from all over the world.
The challengesKPI’s we’re always set so high esp Comverion rates (which iin the store I was in was difficult at times) A lot of stuff online… constant on boarding processes and updates.. Also team members were very tight in the location I was at and went behind my back to the regional with false accusations and since I was still in probation I was let go with out even a warning or chance to defend myself. Salary was low considering the luxury aspect of the brand as well.

poor management bonding teams together through shared stress.
The good thingsthe team is great to work with as we're all suffering from poor upper management together. Also it's really fun finding the right pairs to suit customers
The challengesDealing with zero training, long hours with no break, full time work as a casual, poor upper management of the company, terrible communication from management about policies and store workings, expectation to uphold the store as if you are manager.

Overall great experience, a good role on a casual basis whilst studying or for a short-term.
The good thingsGreat colleagues, wonderful perks and benefits and overall a good working environment
The challengesHigh Turnover in Managers, staff along with limited career progression opportunities past Manager or Assistant Manager roles.

Very toxic work culture. I would not recommend this company to anyone
The good thingsProduct allowance per year
The challengesNo team - you literally have to call other stores to fill your rosters as they cannot get anyone to work there including managers. Daily inventory count am and pm. Monthly stocktakes. Assistant managers get 2 weekends off per month, store managers must work every weekend.

Wasn't what I promised, no real training or chances to grow or level up.
The good thingsGave me a reason to wake up once a week I guess,
The challengesSigned a three month contract but was only given shifts for one month, no warning or explanation when shifts were cut. So disappointed, felt unwanted and unneeded. Boring and uninspired work.

While the job was fulfilling while it lasted, it was difficult to gain a sense of stability, however these negatives could easily be attributed to COVID-19. The staff was quite friendly, sociable and diverse.
The good thingsExcellent work-life balance, flexible shifts, easy-going manager, diverse staff.
The challengesDifficult to move up or gain promotions, not enough shifts but this is likely to due COVID-19.

    An excellent retail business
The good thingsSunglass Hut was a fantastic start to my career. I learnt a lot and had a lot of opportunities in the early days to progress and experience new things. Cool perks.
The challengesTenure - There's a lot of talent at Sunglass Hut. I found that when I reached a certain point in my career, there was very little opportunity for and an unclear path for progression. Area Managers have all been in their roles for an extended period of time and new roles don't come up very often. Area Managers also are responsible for a lot which means they don't always have the time for regular face-to-face interaction.

Amazing environment and culture to be apart of, opportunities to move up in the company do arise to the correct people
The good thingsManagement/ head office are very easy to approach and very encouraging. Very good environment and culture to be working within
The challengesApplied 1.5 years before my application was even considered. Staff discount isn’t consistent and only happened twice a year. Could use better training

The good thingsFun and fair, great pay and awesome management / bosses. Reimbursement!!
The challengesTypical retail challenges, difficult customers and returns / exchanges. SGH gives up the tools and great training to deal with all of it though.

Overall I would 100% recommend working at SGH although now that I have graduated from university there is not a lot of career development and the hours are more suitable for students (for casual sales role).
The good thingsI had a really supportive manager and a great working environment. The staff allowance is also a great bonus! If you are a university student, it's a great job because the pay is decent and the hours are not demanding so you can maintain a good study/ work balance.
The challengesMeeting budgets on quiet days. Dealing with cranky customers although it's the same with any retail job.

working at sunglasshut can be exciting, but the expectations managers have on casuals on accepting hours and workload on short time frames is not worth the minimal pay.
The good thingscan be fun - everyday is different
The challengesmanagement do not care about their staff

    Incredible experience working here
The good thingsSuch a great working environment, incredible staff perks that extend for friends and family as well.
The challengesThere is a lot of product knowledge to learn, however, after being there for a few months you will know most things back to front. Customers are also particularly difficult compared to those in other retail settings. Not many hours available for casual employees.

On of the worst company’s I have ever worked for, work culture is disgusting and state managers are rude and disrespectful
The good thingsThey provide a good casual rate and employee allowance for sunglasses
The challengesManagement is terrible, no opportunity for growth, high expectations with nothing in return you will be unappreciated and undervalued

Do not work here if you are a nice person. You will not fit in.
The good thingsProducts are cool. You will meet some nice customers too.
The challengesManagement are utterly hopeless. The culture is horrible and full of gossiping. Gossip and drama is seemingly encouraged.

The worse experience I ever had.
The good thingsNothing at all. Use very old systems to operate sale. No promotion included in sale not even in career. Lack of management. Full of indiscipline. No manner of work hours and work responsibilities especially the manager needs to get adequate training before they get hire by the company.
The challengesNo scope for career growth. It is impossible to get promotion no matter how hard you try.

Healthy working environment for a retail position
The good thingsManagement was good! They're very supportive in helping you in any way possible. Very realistic standards of customer service with strong balance of focus on the retailer and customer.
The challengesPerhaps to some the independence and expectation to make decisions can be hard at first.

worthwhile employer for students looking for some extra spending money, unideal for anyone else.
The good thingsrelatively generous pay and allowance on casual contract.
The challengesTerrible length shifts, terrible notice, terrible communication. Hard selling attitude with little support to back it up. Not paid to close. Gross attitude throughout the company to sell regardless of what is best for the customer.

    Terrible experience stay away
The good thingsMade some good friends and the discount and allowance is quite nice.
The challengesTerrible management, very gossipy environment. Witnessed a lot of less than proper behaviour from management, if you can read between the lines. A lot of pressure to make budgets and a lot of theft to deal with. Casual workers often asked to perform tasks that above their pay level. Problems in stores were rarely addressed by upper management who only cared about targets.
