Excellent experience and proud to have been part of Sustainability Victoria.
The good thingsI really enjoyed working at SV because of its strong commitment to sustainability. It was a wonderful experience to be part of such a dedicated and supportive team.
The challengesI completed my internship at SV and felt like part of my team and the organization the entire time. It is a great place to work. There is always room for improvement, but this may depend on external factors, such as more government support, since sustainability is very important for a country’s development.

Motherhood and apple pie, with a healthy dose of toxic positivity, and executive leadership that leaves pretty much everything to be desired.
The good thingsThere are purposeful people trying to do a good thing.
The challengesThe management has no credibility in the field.

I had a terrific experience here and wish I could have stayed longer, after quite a few extensions on my contract.
The good thingsA good culture orientated towards team work and a very agile and flexible environment to work in. People are really lovely, empathetic, passionate about sustainability and very knowledgeable about the subject.
The challengesWorkloads can be inconsistent, especially as a contractor. Management changes seem too frequent and organisation structure far too complex and large. Even in the time I was there, there seemed to be high turnover; I don't think this was due to dissatisfaction but because contracts had simply come to an end. My observation is that government work is mostly insecure now.

The best workplace I've worked in, even with workload challenges. The people and approach make it worth going into the office for!
The good thingsExcellent staff, very knowledgeable colleagues and continued efforts for inclusion and morale in hybrid working. A culture of empathy and wellbeing. Lots of development for management.
The challengesPotential for long hours and consistent high workload

Positive, coming out of the private sector this has been my first experience working in VPS and I have learnt loads- it's a great working environment at SV and I feel so connected to the purpose in a net zero carbon circular economy
The good thingsFlexible working culture, passionate people about the environment, connection to purpose and meaningful work, focus on wellbeing, and perks like Summer Hours (2pm Friday finishes) wellbeing days and hybrid working make it amazing.
The challengesThere is lots of work in abundance, however this keeps it interesting, dynamic and you learn loads about resilience and agility

A ride on a roller coaster should only be taken at a theme park.
The good thingsPassionate staff committed to the cause.
The challengesManagement structure is disjointed and in a constant state of flux. Staff are encouraged to challenge the status quo but doing so rarely leads to a positive outcome.

The challengesjob insecurities.. due to some kind of continuing restructure which is one characteristic of government agency.. sometimes it is hard to get solid job security which is discouraging people from time to time..
