Work here if you don’t like to feel included as part of a team and you like unorganised management
The good thingsPay is decent but not for the work they expect you to do
The challengesManagement is all over the place and do not communicate with HR. They give empty promises compared to what they advertise on the ads. No support and lack of safety and SOP

Great opportunities, love the tool shop!
The good thingsSydney Tools is a fantastic company to work for! There is the general day to day challenges you face in the role however the support network is vast and the structures in place prepare you well and truly. I have progressed at a great pace throughout the business and the pay reviews are a huge bonus. Great money for the role and a solid team based atmosphere.
The challengesGeneral retail issues with consumers pop up from time to time as they would in any retail setting however you have a large amount of support and clear cut procedures on how to handle these.

The challengesNothing really bad to say about this company

You get out what you put in.
The good thingsThis is a job where you get out what you put in! When I started at Sydney tools I wasn’t sure if it was the job for me but after almost 3 years, I can’t wait to see where I end up. If you want to do the bare minimum and scrape by this isn’t for you. If you have dreams and aspirations to achieve great things you’ll go far with Sydney Tools. I’ve met great people and made life connections with both customers and employees.
The challengesA lot of people aren’t a fan of the 11 day fortnight but with any business open 7 days a week, someone has to work the weekends.

    Would not recommend to anyone
The good thingsAbsolutely nothing, going home at the end of the day.
The challengesTerrible management and rostering, want full time staff but chop and change like your casuals. End up doing extra unpaid work everyday on top of a terrible 11 day roster.

This job will forever ruin my view of retail work. Go work at a competitor who treat their staff much nicer and care for their well being. The company is all smoke and mirrors. Expect long days with no breaks and constantly standing and dealing with other peoples mistakes. Don't do it, it's a trap.
The good thingsThe only good thing about working for sydney tools is the mates you make during the slums of working here and the knowledge you gain for tools.
The challengesDo not work for this company. Managers were asked to write fake 5 star reviews about working here so they can seem like a better company. The 11 day roster and 90 hour fortnight will ruin your social life and out of work lifestyle. You end up work more hours having to stay around for close or if its busy at close. Expected to do 12+ hour days unpaid during EOFY period and all they offer is Time in lieu which is a struggle to use when you want to. You will be judged and scolded if your sales drop but when your doing constantly going over your target they say nothing. The procedure and policies the company implement are a joke and your forced to deal with angry customers who take it out on you even though the people who decide the policies never have to represent them in a store. This company does not care about you and only trying to scrape every cent out of a consumer. I witnessed a area manager and a managing director ask staff to drive through flood waters so a store could open.

Sydney Tools has been a great place. If you’re motivated, good with people, and not afraid to work hard, the opportunities here are real and the rewards are worth it.
The good thingsPros: Career Progression Opportunities: I started as a Junior Sales Rep and worked my way up to managing my own store. With aspirations to move into a Area Manager role. If you’re driven, eager to learn, and put in the work, there’s a clear path for growth. Great Earning Potential: Pay is very competitive, especially in leadership roles. There’s also plenty of opportunity to earn more. Flexibility & Communication: As a new dad, I’ve come to really appreciate the flexibility Sydney Tools offers. As long as you communicate and plan ahead, things generally go off without a hitch. Team Environment & Culture: I’ve had the chance to work alongside some excellent colleagues and mentors who’ve supported me throughout my journey. The team dynamic in-store makes a big difference. Autonomy & Ownership: Being trusted to run your store like it’s your own is both challenging and rewarding. It helps you grow quickly as a leader.
The challengesCons: 11-Day Fortnight: The rotating roster means you’ll work 11 days over a fortnight, which can be tough at times, especially when balancing family life or other outside commitments but is standard in retail jobs. Work-Life Balance Can Vary: While flexibility exists, peak periods can be intense and demand long hours if you’re not managing your time well.

The challenges11 day fortnights, but the pay is good.

    Great place to work.
The good thingsWorking at Sydney Tools has been a positive experience. The pace is busy, but the team is supportive and everyone works together to get the job done. Management is fair and approachable, and there’s room to learn and grow if you’re motivated. It’s a good place for anyone who’s reliable, hardworking, and likes being part of a solid team.
The challenges11 day fortnight was a bit to get mt head around coming from former roles but its retail so its expected.

    Your journey starts here.
The good things"This is a company like no other, where you're in the driver's seat, shaping your own career path. It offers massive potential for growth to those who embrace the opportunity. If you're driven, ambitious, and ready to make an impact, your journey starts here."
The challenges11 day fortnight seems to be an issue however its standard in retail/sales

I would not recommend this job to anyone unless you litteraly just need to soak a pay check out of them for a month or 2 until you can find something better.
The good thingsThe salary looks okay until you realise the over 90 hours they want you to work plus coming in early to open up and staying back to count til and close store so there's another 10 hours you dont get paid for. Company genuinely seems to invest in training but lacks any common sense to retain staff (in their defence staff retention is hard because its such a joke of a place to work). Some of the people you work with are good but overtime this company seems to wear everyone down.
The challengesLitteraly gross incompetence from management, every month there is staff turn over and new starters that might last a day or a week once they see what they're in for. Massive pressure to sell when your not working for a commission which leads to a terrible work environment as everyone is fighting for sales that have no benefits to them. If they tell you there will be performance/salary reviews it's a joke. might get one for a couple of K at 6 months so that you continue to work hard but you won't see any reward just dumped with more workload. You'll constantly have customers that have dropped off warranty repairs or things of their nature and have to be the bad guy because they will drag thier feet on this for months and most like ultimately decide to not accept the warranty anyway.

Wasn't the worst but wouldn't really recommend someone working here if asked
The good thingsSome decent workmates, decent work atmosphere
The challengesUnrealistic and poorly thought our logistic practices and stock management, very much like a small business operating as a big business
