Walking out on my last day felt like winning lotto.
The good thingsI got a hamper with popcorn at Christmas, the year before I got a chopping board and salt
The challengesIf the executive team walked the talk as well as talking the talk it would be a start. The leader is toxic and needs a refresh from the top down.

    Horrible place to work
The good thingsI met some lovely people
The challengesManagement is appalling. I had to get union involved on more than one occasion. The Department Manager that was at the centre of the union involvement was promoted higher, despite several other complaints made about her & being the centre of union involvement more than once. My mental health suffered severely, I had to be medicated to manage my anxiety, I would walk across the car park crying. A lot of stress caused by Management. HR were lovely but are HR Business Partners so are more about the business. Highly recommend not working there if you value your mental health. I took a pay cut for another job just to get out of there

Avoid this organisation at all costs.
The good thingsGood renumeration. Some genuinely nice people.
The challengesOverall the whole organisation. It is an insular, inward looking organisation. If you previously hadn't worked in utilities then you were never going to be part of the group. No training then when you couldn't do a task they acted surprised a nd largely blamed you for failure. Set up to fail. Made to feel insignificant and quite frankly useless.

It drove me to burn out... Senior Management was a huge disappointment. Nothing has changed......
The good thingsThere are some really engaged committed individuals who try to improve reliability of assets and infrastructure for the Tasmanian Community
The challengesA majority "not all" of Senior Managers are governed purely by $'s. They lack a basic understanding of what is required of their teams and how a water utility operates. They are more interested in growing their personal resume's than running a water utility. They burn their good people out and treat them like a consumable item. The money is only average and the politics are extreme.

Shiny image masks leadership issues and a workplace under constant pressure.
The good thingsThe organisation offers solid remuneration and operates in an interesting sector with meaningful work that impacts the broader community. There are also pockets of genuinely skilled individuals spread across various teams.
The challengesSince the expansion of the senior leadership team, the overall workplace atmosphere has noticeably slipped. HR appears unsure about how to address cultural issues, and there’s little appetite from the business to act on underperforming leaders. Despite holding an “Employer of Choice” badge, internal engagement results tell a very different story (worth asking about if you’re interviewing). There’s a strong push to brand the company externally as an exceptional workplace, but staff aren’t buying it. Experiences vary between teams, but a walk through HQ makes it clear that stress levels are high. It’s not the kind of environment people enjoy unless the salary is enough to make the pressure worth it.

terrible don't subject yourself to the mental and physical torment this employer will subject you to
The good thingsgreat Product we produce for customers, really good work friend and people in lower positions try hard..
The challengesnew Ceo and executive and Department manages in service delivery especially are Toxic they are only interested in pretending to improve culture and do the right thing by their work force. led by the Gm down the whole group are toxic and waste rate payers' money on self-indulgence, meetings, travel, stupid virtue signaling campaigns, buy awards and run the policy of contracting everything out to lower numbers of the frontline staff and use high-cost contractors to do the work so they don't have to manage people. culture surveys are terrible every time, yet they pretend to be employer of choice. HR is toxic and do not protect the staff in anyway lie to the group and run secret agendas. avoid this company it is like an institution they beat you down make you feel useless and that you cannot leave, then toss you away and try to ruin you after you leave to other employers secretly via HR .

Great culture, you can see the business is working hard to reflect the values. Great team environment.
The good thingsGreat culture, the moment I started I was made to feel as a part of the team. The onboarding by HR and Management and team leader was supportive. 6 week review, 8 week 3month 1:1 was provide to ensure I was happy.
The challengesThe role is in-depth, data driven and requires good experience in integrity. The well written procedures and training provided is 10/10.

    Awful management and work environment
The good thingsI made some good friends, but to no surprise they no longer work for Taswater.
The challengesThe team leaders/management are awful. They make you feel like you are below them and constantly take coffee breaks out of the office instead of helping you. They question everytime you have a sick day, and still ask that you come to work or work from home even when you have a medical certificate. I was essentially forced to come to work even though I was medically unfit to do so. They claim that they care about your mental health but do not listen to staff when they ask for help or provide feedback in what would help them reach their unrealistic monthly KPI’s. They constantly nitpick on what you should do better on a call, yet provide you with not enough time from start to finish to achieve what they’re asking. This job severely impacted my mental health. Constant angry customers due to issues that were not within my control. The managers treat the CSO’s so badly that they had multiple staff leave which lead to longer waits for calls yet wouldn’t put staff on when asked too. The turnover rate for this company is ridiculous.

A toxic roller coaster which had mentally scared me.
    The good thingsMaking good friends
The challengesUpper management is extremely toxic, only looking to cut costs and resources. Treat people unfairly, often setting teams up to fail to blame the team leaders performance and push them out the door. No trust, being open or willingness to address safety concerns.

Awful. Management were awful. Get questioned for every sick day you have after providing medical certificates. Constant pressure, horrible calls from customers is nothing compared to how little respect you get. Very high staff turn over. Not worth the $$
The good thingsNot many. There are some lovely people but most leave quickly.
The challengesNon stop calls, absolutely no support, never can meet expectations even after working you into the ground

Started out as a great place to work, ended up running most staff into the ground, causing over 15 staff members to leave.
The good thingsGood pay rate, some helpful colleagues
The challengesHigh volume of calls and no staff creating terrible work culture. Only willing to help with some staff, saying they care about mental health, but not listening to the staff when they voice the issues.

    Seek a position elsewhere.
The good thingsFlexible work life if it suits the department you work in
The challengesConstantly restructuring or “realignment” of business. Change fatigue, lack of management willing to make a decision-good or bad. No accountability for staff. As the saying goes…. The worse you behave the higher you climb. Difficult to watch what occurs when you are also a customer

The good thingsGreat place to make an impact while working with dedicated people and supportive management.

Promises the world, yet systematically reneges on every undertaking
The good thingsSome hard working colleagues aiming to deliver better infrastructure & outcomes for customers, however undermined.
The challengesBureaucratic company exec all about image, no substance, actually making up promises on fly without regard to actual projects or facts - micromanagement to ensure zero actual information given to public about projects, deliberate division of teams to impede ability to succeed - lack of trust, no 'need to know' between silos, no trust in expertise of individuals employed in their role.
