Disgraceful and a psychologically damaging experience.
The good thingsThe discipline, accountability and structure of Corrections Vic was great. It was interesting to work with the Corrections staff. Pay was good.
The challengesThe AOD programs are a very poor substitute for those that had gone before with a different organisation. The business model of GEO rates statistics over quality, and ignorant lackeys over hard working, qualified and intelligent staff. Management supports this.

It pays the bills. But a lot of unnecessary work due to structural and personnel issues Buyer beware
The good thingsHealth care staff are friendly.
The challengesMedical director is incompetent and ignores feedback. Head office is incompetent with onboarding, sending contracts, providing assistance. Large number of poor locum and IMG doctors leasing to unnecessary workload.

The only way to survive GEO is to not ask any questions, keep your mouth closed and turn a blind eye to poor clinical care and client outcomes
The good thingsMy colleagues were lovely, but due to on floor management staff attrition is the highest I've ever seen anywhere in my 25 years of nursing
The challengesThe on floor managers, as well has head office, are clinically out of date & have little or no consultation with client facing staff. Exclusion of more experienced clinical staff, from on floor managers, is rife. On floor managers do not want to be questioned on policies/procedures and are not interested in efficient and safe client care, their main objective is to ensure that they met their KPIs and avoid fines re timely care delivery, even when clients are not seen but just booked in to an appointment!

Health care providers-avoid at all cost
The good thingsNothing positive about the company at all
The challengesPoor communication from management; dismissive responses when issues are raised; intimidating/coercive clinical leaders who will cut corners at the expense of health outcomes to meet their own KPIs

    Dreadful, unprofessional and harsh
    The good thingsNothing, absolutely nothing!
The challengesI have had a very professional, successful and long career in administration. Working at Fulham Prison was the most traumatising time I have ever spent in an office environment. From disorganised and antiquated systems to management that could not have been less effective.

Do NOT recommend working for GEO Healthcare
The good thingsNothing, GEO Healthcare is a really difficult company to work for. Healthcare staff are very undervalued, under supported & underpaid when compared to a similar role for a different private company or public sector.
The challengesThe whole senior management team. Communication is NOT their strong suit. This is made very obvious & strongly reflected through staff retention.

Excellent, if you want career progression in a unique industry then with a bit of hard work and persistence you can achieve this.
The good thingsThe people. Colleagues are supportive and you feel safe. Always busy and work is consistent and the job is reliable.

The lack of professionalism in both staff and management is the worst I have ever seen and is accepted and encouraged by Senior Management.
The good thingsClose to home, large organisation, some good people
The challengesUnprofessional behaviour of long serving staff and management, lack of staff engagement, training is focused on correctional staff no budget for non correctional staff, admin staff have moved through the ranks but have no qualifications or experience to perform the roles they are placed in, high levels of nepotism
