    Outdated, and uninspiring
    Oct 2025

A chaotic, outdated and uninspiring place to work.
The good thingsNothing to speak of
The challengesConstant restructuring makes it a chaotic place to work with poor psychosocial support for employees. Uninspiring leaders, old offices, outdated ways of working with no accountability measures or relevant systems in place to streamline their scattergun approach to delivery makes it impossible to get completed to a high standard. Instead of collaboration, departments compete against each other in a reactive, aggressive blame culture.

A fascinating place to work with great people.
The good thingsMy career development is truly valued here at the Mint and the people are amazing. The size of the business allows you to make an impact and get exposed to things that may not be possible in larger organisations.
The challengesEast Perth is slightly less convenient when travelling to work compared to the CBD. There can be old processes however it’s exciting to be on the journey of new ways of working.

A difficult and unsupportive environment that lacked professionalism and inclusivity.
The good thingsUnfortunately, there were limited positive aspects to my experience.
The challengesMy time in this workplace was overshadowed by a challenging culture, including unprofessional behavior, delays in training, and an environment that felt exclusionary at times. I encountered inappropriate conduct, a lack of inclusivity, and a high-pressure atmosphere where I was told I would be tested for mental resilience before receiving proper training.

Management does not care about you as much as they say they do.
The good thingsThe people at the mint are wonderful and friendly.
The challengesOld technology, no communication between departments on how the various software systems work, those on the front line using it day in and out have written no instruction manuals for anyone else to learn and there are a lot (12 or more) software systems in use.

Lots of benefits to being a Perth Mint employee.
The good thingsThe people who work here are a diverse and friendly group of workers. The options for flexible hours are a bonus.
The challengesCan be hard at times to get people to take on new ideas especially those that have been around for a long time.

I really enjoy working here. There is a lots to do and lots of opportunity to make an impact. People are friendly and very talented. There is a lot of change so you need to be someone who is a bit agile and resilient to work in this space.
The good thingsThe people are fantastic! The flexible work conditions are great and I have a great team and manager. I get a great deal of autonomy and am trusted for my skills and expertise.
The challengesWork environment - older building, not top of the range amenities but it is ok. Systems could be more mature - like government lots of steps and 'red tape' before a decision is made.

Easily the most disfunctional business i've ever witnessed.
The good thingsDiverse workforce made the role easier.
The challengesPromise the world but can not deliver anything remotely close. Old school management completely out of touch with modern ways.

I wish I didn't stay there that long.
The good thingsStable job. Low chance of getting redundant as they are always busy
The challengesBackward technology. The company is not providing new innovation to make the job easier. PPE is always their last line of defense for safety.

I found that the Perth Mint is a fantastic place to work. They truly walk the talk on safety, culture and continuous improvement, and include everyone on the journey. Internal transfers and promotion from the floor is possible for anyone who has the drive and wishes to excel in their career with the multitude of T&D opportunities afforded to all staff.
The good thingsGreat team culture and opportunities to develop. The Perth Mint offers regular month on month training courses and opportunities to develop skills in personal and professional development from IT programs, leadership courses, and first aid (both mental and physical). They also have regular volunteering opportunities where we can have a paid work day, giving back to the community in a critical service.
The challengesCity parking is difficult and expensive.

The challengesReactive across different areas of the business, lacking innovative strategy. Poor feedback and performance management which does not reflect active policy.

Not a place for career growth, but if you are someone who is a people pleaser you might be appreciated in this company
The good thingsHistorical building, some very nice people
The challengesOutdated IT infrastructure, micromanagement, employees disappear without even having the chance to say goodbye, people who are with the company over 10 years memorized doing the same stuff and they see themselves superior to people who joined newly.

A workplace where you are appreciated!
The good thingsThe staff are incredible friendly, helpful and most of all supportive. Being a large company, employees can often get lost in the crowd, however the Mint have developed ways to promote interdepartmental communication inside and outside of work. Also what better way to enjoy your lunch break than in the Mint's beautiful green gardens!
The challengesNone large enough to document.

The good thingsLarge company with several opportunities for different skill sets. Great location. Initially was able to make the job what I wanted it to be.
The challengesChanging through the restructure and losing the perfect boss. It is hard to continue when good connections are no longer there.
