Corporate cult machine that happens to have an education business meme, here for good (profits)
The good thingsWorked with some nice and genuine people over the years
The challengesTop down management burnout culture. No security or realistic opportunities for progression. Management fails to utilise skills and strengths of academic staff and is mainly concerned with budgets and profits Interpersonal fighting and intrigues with poor leadership and communications between teams. Cultish expectations and culture. Stopped receiving classes and was not made aware I had been made redundant until Payroll was calling me to ask me where to pay long service leave. Turns out they made me redundant on my birthday and no one felt to communicate that after well over a decade of service.

A great time to be working here after a period of change.
The good thingsWork life balance is amazing with hybrid options and first time I have felt I can switch off over weekend if I really need to. Good ability to focus on the right things, and student support is the priority. Culture is great and I feel I am listened to.
The challengesNew university so some systems and processes are still developing which can mean things can be a bit manual.

Torrens is a third-rate university that even before covid relied upon online delivery along with international student enrollments. Being a private university, as long as you can pay the fees, you can be enrolled into a degree. Regardless if that is a good thing for everyone involved. Only work here if you don't have the qualifications and experience to work somewhere else.
The good thingsI was the sole lecturer for my department, no one was watching when I clocked in and out. However when COVID arrived, there was very little support from management.
The challengesStudents were mostly international students with no computer literacy skills or understanding of what is expected of them in completing a degree. That also showed very little interest in actually learning anything. There was only the 1 PC lab at the campus, it was used for all subjects that required it. There was no door, so the noise from two other rooms would make teaching difficult, along with, the univiting surrounds.

No process, no respect for their team hard work, no value for the effort & contribution, totally like a family business and they put their own people up, that’s all
The good thingsPolitics, games and no acknowledgement at all from managers.
The challengesNot sure if executives and HR still can see work done by junior staffs who are working hard for company to grow the business. Is HR still active here or do get controlled by same managers??? There are few awesome people but nothing they can do as managers go up with their staffs hard work but they won’t take team together. Unprofessional managers

Started well but after leaning reality, would not recommend unless you just want a job that pays money.
The good thingsPeople you work with are fantastic. Flexibility to work from home or office. You deal with students who are lovely and respectful.
The challengesSoft management. Has no clear idea on what they are doing. No on going training. Management is there to get salary but has no interest in staff improvement or process improvement. They are not there when staff need them for support.

    A positive and valued experience
The good thingsGreat work environment and support from day one. Extensive training provided to ensure you can put your best foot forward. A positive and encouraging workplace allowing everyone to feel welcome and valued.
The challengesConstantly learning and sometimes fast paced working environment made meeting targets and proving a higher level of customer service a challenge at times.

Highly recommended if you are looking for an opportunity to grow in your career and to be part of an amazing team.
The good thingsThe main reason I love to work at Torrens University is the vision and values. As a growing university, there are rooms for growth to further shape the culture and improve the structure to impact our world. Apart from that, the other good things include: - Love the diverse and multicultural environment with equal opportunities for employees to pursue career growth. - Enjoyed the caring workplace culture and supportive environment. - Opportunities to pursue another qualification with the Tuition Reduction Benefit for staff
The challengesAs a growing university and young organization, there are bound to be teething problems in terms of processes, systems, and management which can be challenging at times, but they are manageable with an open/agile mind and good attitude.

The best company I have ever worked with!
The good thingsI love the positive culture, the amazing employee experience and the sense of meaning within the company. I really enjoy the perks provided by the company in which the one appealing to me the most is the massive discount for you to study something related to your career goals. This company is very agile and proactive which suits my personal needs and goals.
The challengesIts agility to manage projects, which for me is not a challenge but for people with different skills sets or a more settled mindset, would be a challenge

    Excellent
The good thingsI have recently been onboarded, and to say that it was the best & most efficient interview to offer process is an understatement. The culture across the organisation is amazing, I immediately settled into my respective teams and felt incredibly welcomed upon my arrival. The work is what I desired & the culture is a great bonus. Highly recommend this workplace.
The challengesN/A - I have yet to come across any difficulties.
