What’s it like working at Torrens University Australia?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees consistently praise the positive culture at Torrens University Australia, describing it as supportive, welcoming, and collaborative with a strong emphasis on values. Staff appreciate the friendly and supportive teams, the flexible working arrangements including hybrid options, and the student-centred approach that motivates their work. The university offers excellent learning opportunities through training programmes and tuition reduction benefits, and employees value being part of a growing organisation with opportunities for career advancement and the ability to shape its future.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. As a new and growing university, some systems and processes are still being developed, which can occasionally require manual workarounds. The workplace can be fast-paced and dynamic, particularly during busy periods, and changes can occur quickly, sometimes with limited notice. Some employees have noted that management approaches can vary across different areas, and the complex business structure may take time to navigate, particularly across dispersed campuses.

Corporate cult machine that happens to have an education business meme, here for good (profits)
The good thingsWorked with some nice and genuine people over the years
The challengesTop down management burnout culture. No security or realistic opportunities for progression. Management fails to utilise skills and strengths of academic staff and is mainly concerned with budgets and profits Interpersonal fighting and intrigues with poor leadership and communications between teams. Cultish expectations and culture. Stopped receiving classes and was not made aware I had been made redundant until Payroll was calling me to ask me where to pay long service leave. Turns out they made me redundant on my birthday and no one felt to communicate that after well over a decade of service.

A great time to be working here after a period of change.
The good thingsWork life balance is amazing with hybrid options and first time I have felt I can switch off over weekend if I really need to. Good ability to focus on the right things, and student support is the priority. Culture is great and I feel I am listened to.
The challengesNew university so some systems and processes are still developing which can mean things can be a bit manual.
