If you get a good manager, this is a great workplace. If you get a bad one, just leave, they don't care. The good thingsNice brand image of positivity and ethicality that attracted staff who connect with that, so you would mostly work with lovely people. Unfortunately, it's common that these are also the kinds of people who perpetuate toxic positivity, so even if you're co-workers are nice, they aren't always realistic -- this explains why my criticisms in the next section are so severe, and why other reviews on this website don't mention it.
I've stayed close friends with some of my co-workers who are wonderful, spirited and intelligent women. This has been the biggest reward and totally worth any and all trouble I had during my employment. I'd do it over and over again for them!
The challengesSerious complaints about mistreatment within the workplace are NEVER resolved. I saw managers, area managers, and even a national manager overtly mistreat staff. In the case of the national manager, the CEO was contacted by my co-worker to address it, and he flat out refused to take action on it. During my contract I saw many co-workers from different stores leave due to gross mistreatment: mostly verbal, sometimes financial. Sometimes it was mind games like gaslighting, or excessively controlling behaviours, which are hard to make a complaint about, so lots of staff stayed silent. Regardless, no formal complaints were ever taken seriously. I finally left when I was inexplicably targeted by a manager for over a year. Upper management had already received complaints about her. After I left, my old co-workers were still complaining about her, and nothing was being done.
Also has a workplace culture of working above your pay level and secretly working outside of rostered hours.
