Worst experience of my career. No wonder they have the reputation as the worst pathology provider in WA.
The good thingsThe wonderful and dedicated laboratory staff who have a genuine desire to improve patient care.
The challengesTotal lack of professional processes, egotistical management, lack of direction, training or support, absence of WHS procedures, disrespect for hard working staff at lab level and an overbearing parent company that cares more about improving the bottom line than providing a quality service.

Don't walk, RUN from Westerns and never look back!
The good thingsNothing good at all.
The challengesVery low pay, unrealistic workload, mean humans left right and centre, purple circle culture, high staff turnover, no additional training, no career advancement opportunities and no one ever does anything about any of this, this company is well known for being the absolute worst pathology company in W.A.

    Very draining with no rewards
The good thingsPeople you work with and the location
The challengesUpper management has no respect for staff that are doing the work they only care about the number and output of work are reluctant to hire new staff even when needed and then question why work isn’t done. Pressure to get a lot of work done with no rewards or benefits. Pay is very low compared to other pathology labs and this causes loss of staff regularly but still no change. It’s about time the upper management listen to their staff and make changes.

Use the opportunity as a stepping stone to better employment, as I did.
The good thingsSome wonderful staff that have a genuine interest in your wellbeing.
The challengesLack of professional process, lack of support, lack of WHS procedure, belligerent attitude towards compliancy, overreach control from their incompetent parent company.

Leave while you still have a chance.
The good thingsexperience working in a busy pathology lab
The challengestoxic workplace, very low pay, very high turnover rate. management will find a way around you to keep you under control and use your frustration for their benefit. career progression and support is zero from the management. promises are made, but not delivered. management have an endless list of excuses. work is not rewarding. use it as a stepping stone, get some experience and leave asap.

No Career Progression; No Support for their Staff
The good thingsGood when you first start for the first year. You learn everything in 6 months and the rest anyone can do it. You don't need a degree
The challengesNo opportunities or support to move up. No appreciation for the work done. Poor Management. Very low pay and pay grade scaling is not justified. Shift work; the work load is often justified whether the previous persons shift has "pulled their weight". Therefore workload is not fairly or evenly distributing. Hence you will find that people paid at a higher scale doing the same work but less effort is made. Not rewarding. It has been raised and no resolution has been considered.

    Good when you first start
The good thingsCoworkers are good to talk to
The challengesNo opportunity for career development. Wages are very minimum (and wont go up anytime soon). Advancement within the company is based on if you're related to someone higher up. Managers are unorganised. Roster is always in shambles. No rewards or incentives for employees

    Poorly managed
The good thingsWork with industry professionals...most of the time. Great stepping stone on the way to something better. Build up your experience.
The challengesScheduling is rather poor but mostly dependant on department. Private so that means pay is much lower than public unless you one of the top dogs. Pays by the hour... Little room for growth. Waiting for one person with a higher position to leave.
