    Recruitment Officer, Medical Workforce
    Apr 2026
Footscray VIC 3011Less than 1 year in the role, current employee
A collaborative workplace where management listen to you and the work inspires you.
The good thingsIncredibly supportive and flexible management in the Medical Workforce team. Interesting work environment which makes you’re making a real difference to the organisation. Friendly colleagues. A real positive energy throughout the hospital. Plenty of amazing cafes and restaurants to choose from, 5 weeks annual leave per year plus an accrued day off each month.
The challengesParking can be a bit of a struggle, but luckily it is only a ten minute walk from the train station and the tram stop is right near the hospital.

    You're just a number here
The good thingsYou can really make a positive difference to patients and their families. The fellow colleagues for most of the part are supportive and helpful
The challengesAs mentioned in other reviews, toxic, unsupportive upper management. If a serious complaint is raised the victim is gaslit and victim blamed. Not what you would expect in the year 2025, and with all they bang on about the said CARES values... The top heirachy is useless and doesn't deserve good staff

Do not work for Westwrn Health- bad management from the top down. No accountability from top down. Not treated as equals- admin workers get no recognition or respect.
The good thingsThe team that you work with is the only good thing that can be said about Western Health if you work in any administration role.
The challengesDo not work here if you are applying for an administration / coordinator role- Toxic work culture, bad management, no training. High volume work and under staffed. No work life balance offered and when asked you need to justify your request. Managers do not have your back. Look at Admin reviews.

Amazing place to work as an OT
The good thingsAmazing team of clinicians who look out for one another. Really supportive and knowledgeable seniors. Plenty of great opportunities to be apart of quality improvement projects or committees to make real, tangible changes in the work we do and provide to patients. Opportunities for career development and growth depending on your personal goals or interests. Low staff turn over. Supervision is always prioritised. Our role as OT’s is well understood and appreciated within the multidisciplinary team. My favourite job to date!
The challengesWorking in public health is always going to have its expected challenges like bed pressures and lower wages compared to private work, but honestly all of that is outweighed with it being a great place to work.

I wont be here if I have another option.
The good thingsMeet some great people and make friends
The challengesThe management does not care about the staff. Severely under staffed, and still management does not care so patients can be compromised.

The good thingsThe patients you look after
The challengesManagement. Very inward looking and a lack of leadership. They use recruitment consultants but always promote internally. Never recruit talent from outside because of a fear of change.
