What’s it like working at Western Health?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Western Health appreciate the supportive and friendly colleagues who create a positive team environment across many departments. Many staff members value supportive management, particularly in areas such as Medical Workforce, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to patients and their families through patient-centred care. The work/life balance is well-regarded, with generous leave entitlements and a family-oriented culture. Employees also enjoy the multicultural environment and opportunities for professional development, including quality improvement projects and career growth.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Management approaches can vary across different departments, with experiences ranging from highly supportive to less experienced leadership. Workload can be demanding at times, particularly in administration and coordination roles, with some areas experiencing staffing pressures. The infrastructure and equipment could benefit from updates, as some older technology is in place. Additionally, training and onboarding processes could be more comprehensive in certain roles, and parking availability can be limited, though public transport options are conveniently located nearby.

A collaborative workplace where management listen to you and the work inspires you.
The good thingsIncredibly supportive and flexible management in the Medical Workforce team. Interesting work environment which makes you’re making a real difference to the organisation. Friendly colleagues. A real positive energy throughout the hospital. Plenty of amazing cafes and restaurants to choose from, 5 weeks annual leave per year plus an accrued day off each month.
The challengesParking can be a bit of a struggle, but luckily it is only a ten minute walk from the train station and the tram stop is right near the hospital.

    You're just a number here
The good thingsYou can really make a positive difference to patients and their families. The fellow colleagues for most of the part are supportive and helpful
The challengesAs mentioned in other reviews, toxic, unsupportive upper management. If a serious complaint is raised the victim is gaslit and victim blamed. Not what you would expect in the year 2025, and with all they bang on about the said CARES values... The top heirachy is useless and doesn't deserve good staff
