    The good thingsWorking at Westminster School has been both professionally fulfilling and personally rewarding. The School has a supportive and collaborative culture, where staff wellbeing is important and opportunities for professional growth are plentiful. From day one, I’ve been part of a strong, values-driven community that balances high standards with care and encouragement. The spacious campus offers a beautiful working environment, and access to facilities like the swimming pool and gym is a welcome benefit that supports a healthy work–life balance.
    The challengesBeing a School that prides itself in excellence and an abundance of choice for students, the expectations to deliver at a high standard are evident. But excellence requires dedication so I see it more as a positive.

    Innovative practice, great students and lots of opportunities.
    The good thingsThe environment is supportive and there are lots of opportunities to develop. The grounds and resources are excellent. The students are delightful. There is a lot going on and you can get involved with heaps of different activities.
    The challengesThere is so much happening, it can feel a little overwhelming until you get to know the school.

    The good thingsThe cafeteria food. The grounds were well maintained and they pay more than the public system.
    The challengesEverything. I joined the school with optimism and a strong background in education, but quickly found the working culture to be far less supportive than advertised. While the facilities are excellent and some individual staff members genuinely care, the broader environment is marred by internal politics, inconsistent leadership, and a lack of authentic support for new staff. There’s a strong emphasis on appearances and control, rather than genuine collaboration or wellbeing. Constructive feedback is often withheld until it becomes a performance issue, and requests for support are met with silence or vague platitudes. Professional standards are selectively enforced depending on who you are or who you're aligned with.

    School leaderSorry you felt that your experience was not great. We develop and support our leaders to give timely constructive feedback, and we recognise that some of our leaders don't always get this right. None of us are perfect, but we always strive to do better.

    Wonderful workplace for liaising across teams. The IT support crew were excellent and helped learning to be undertaken seamlessly and professional duties to be a dream
    The good thingsPastoral support of students is outstanding. Thd facilities are exceptional. Staff members are very friendly and welcoming.

    Want to feel appreciated!
    The good thingsThe students have good opportunities to try new things. Relationships between students and staff are generally positive.
    The challengesStaff are overworked and tired. Technology not reliable. Unsupported by leadership. Too many changes, but not enough time to implement them. Only a select few have opportunities for promotion.

    School leaderSorry you felt that way. We have updated our technology over the last 3 years to support new ways of doing things. We understand that using new technology can sometimes be challenging and we have ongoing opt-in sessions for staff to upskill on using newer technology, so that staff are well prepared for promotional opportunities.

    The challengesAs a senior manager I was frustrated by unnecessary control by School Council. They went beyond strategy and wanted to have too much hands on management
