An inspiring workplace that combines purpose and passion with opportunities for professional growth, despite the complexities of global operations.
The good thingsWhat I enjoyed most about working at World Vision Australia is the organization’s strong commitment to its mission and values. Collaborating with a team that genuinely cares about making a difference globally is both inspiring and fulfilling. The supportive work environment, opportunities for personal and professional growth, and the chance to contribute to meaningful projects are truly rewarding.
The challengesOne of the challenges I found was adapting to the complexity of processes due to the global scale of operations. Navigating cross-departmental collaboration can be intricate, especially when balancing differing priorities. However, these challenges have helped me grow in my role and improve my problem-solving and communication skills.

Very welcoming, engaging workplace with plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth!
The good thingsWorld Vision really cares about their workers, and provides plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth. It is a warm, engaging atmosphere to work within and though of course there are challenges, there is always someone to offer support. I feel very lucky to be here.
The challengesThere are teething problems with new systems and how departments work alongside each other. But there is a strong foundation in the company, and I know these things will be ironed out with time and good people.

WVA tries to meet the employees' financial, mental, physical, and emotional needs. Career development and opportunities are often available.
The good thingsMulticultural, diversity, teamwork, respecting people, and flexible work-life balance organization
The challengesbureaucracy, politics, slow to react, and last-minute work, always last minute.

    Amazing.
The good thingsMy current management and the working environment is what I enjoy the most about this position. Unlike other call centre positions, World Vision has a totally different base of client as they are all supporters looking to donate for good causes. Conversations are vastly different, and it can often feel therapeutic as a break from the other stressors of life.
The challengesKeeping up to date with changing events around the world and needing to learn a new set of communication skills regarding several different issues at the same time. Another challenge was not having enough working hours in a week.

World Vision used to be good employer but now it has become o e of the worst. It does not walk the talk and the employees are not considered as an asset. Instead HR thinks cutting the benefits and perks are the way for better growth in the industry.
The good thingsMulticultural and an international organization that had a good reputation some years back
The challengesUnfair remuneration Lack of growth system Unrecognized employees Does not walk the talk HR does not have qualifications nor knowledge in handling matters

The good thingsI explored social and cultural differences and learnd more administrative skills and azit was my first paid job I enjoyed by organising all of those events.
The challengesWorking hours were very much challenge for me, as I had to work 12hours per day which was extremely tiresome.

Good place to work but don't expect longer term job security.
The good thingsGreat people, interesting and meaningful work.
The challengesManagement insists on regularly using a 'spill and fill' approach (ie laying people off and then inviting them to reapply for jobs) to make change in the organisation. Makes it almost impossible to trust them.

Overall a very enjoyable working environment where I have made good solid friendships with like minded people.
The good thingsShared values and ethics of the majority of people attracted to working for the Organisation.
The challengeslack of progress due to unsettling workplace due to restructures and uncertainty about future roles. This affected decision making. Lots of barriers to get things done.

Like co-workers but management is just like most companies.
The good thingsThe cafe within the building, staff within the team
The challengesFor a company that is built on ethics they don't always treat staff that way; say one thing to your face and the opposite happens. They care about you as long as they can benefit from you, they are not transparent They want improvements but

Amazing organisation with a strong purpose and evolving culture.
The good thingsCulture, people and purpose.
The challengesThe purpose is great and very strong but sometimes people's personal agendas or sense of purpose is stronger which gets overly political.

    Bittersweet experience
The good thingsGreat people work here and are passionate about helping those in need. The development work done in the field is outstanding and cutting edge. This company truly changes lives for those it serves and uses its money/resources wisely.
The challengesConstant reorganizations. Competing priorities between departments. Poor leadership and HR department. High staff turnover rate as staff are overworked and under-valued. Too much red tape to make progress quickly.

A tough environment filled with agendas and politics that get in the way of good ideas.
The good thingsThe work in the field is incredible.
The challengesWVA have identity issues. Don’t start there if you’re all about passion for the field. It’s confused as to whether it’s an ngo or a corporate.

Meaningful organisation to work for, friendly people, expect less and give more

fellow employees where amazing but everything else was terrible
The good things- If you're passionate about world vision as a charity you can directly sign people up to it and it can be rewarding work - most of the employees are amazing people - you can meet some amazing supporters with amazing stories
The challenges- management is terrible. They don't seem to know what they're doing - you're forced to try and reach almost impossible goals by people who have never done any type of fundraising work whatsoever - work is very draining and the break times are insufficient - you are pressured to work extremely long hours by team leaders - conflict resolution between employees is terrible. Team leaders have clear favorites and refuse to be impartial.

It is a fundrasing organisation but team leaders ALWAYS use the word BUSINESS and constantly pressure young promoters to reach the target.
The good thingsThe pay is good. Reasonable hourly pay but doesn't compensate for the effort required.
The challengesKeeping up the ongoing pressure given from team leaders (managers) to gain sponsorships. Massive disconnection with team leaders and their hierarchies. Promoters are left to battle amongst themselves in hope of getting a sponsorship.

They call themselves a Christian organisation but they are not
The good thingsIf it’s just a job you are looking for, or a stepping stone to something better it think you can treat this in This category. If you have a passion for the poor and you want to make a difference then I would say, you could find some comfort there
The challengesYou are pushed constantly to perform, you have KPI’s that you need to achieve. A charity organisation depends on the goodwill of people for their giving. The organisation has become too commercial, the info provided to their supporters in is very misleading. The truth is barely made known to the general public.
