Technically challenging with allot to offer junior engineers in terms of learning. The good thingsXylem has various respected industry leading brands inclusive in their portfolio. Therefore plenty of opportunities to learn new products, applications and work on different problems to solve are presented. Xylem is where I really \"cut my teeth\" professionally with pumping systems and hydraulics. The applications and product management teams are great, offered mentorship on numerous occasions and generally could not ask for a better team. Factory training provided exposure to global engineering and cutting edge manufacturing technology from within the Xylem group - this greatly accelerated learning and product confidence.
The challengesTraining senior staff while technically being a junior engineer is quite daunting. Some sales staff were employed with little engineering aptitude and made it difficult to work with on occasion. The applications engineering team and projects teams are small and offer limited job opportunities. Left to pursue an product development role for another multinational mining equipment manufacturer.
