It’s who you know, not what you know.
The good thingsColleagues, peers and contractors were great to work with on a whole.
The challengesRepetition of tasks is challenging as is night shift. Training lacking as is clarity around roles, tasks and expectations.

The pay looks good, but their requirement of candidate's ability is unreasonable.
The good thingsWFH Flexibility is one of the good things to work here.
The challengesInterview process is terrible, they don't understand their standard of a candidate is unreasonable.

Cameby Downs is the WORST site I have ever worked on.
The good thingsTrauma bonding with team mates
The challengesThe biggest accomplishment of Cameby Downs is gathering so many incompetent, unprofessional managers. People punished for raising safety concerns. New to industry operators put in the drivers seat on their first day on site. Complete disregard for the EBA. Do not waste your time with this site.

It's not terrible but is slowly getting more and more corporate/HR driven. It's a revolving door with staff unfortunately.
The good thingsGood variety of work, no two days are the same
The challengesA lot of politics, very hard to be motivated when your constantly criticised on your work.

The biggest thing that hurt this place the most was Stale Management who had one goal in mind production targets, running crews that low that the blokes are being burnt out at both ends. There is no further development within the company unless you keep your mouth shut and don't voice your thoughts even if what you are saying is the safest option.
The good thingsThe work crew, all the blokes have been great to work with
The challengesStale Management who do not care for there workers with no further development

If you want to achieve big things and rise up fast in your career, this is a great place to be in. You are compensated very well, and if you are a good performer you will be paid well. This place is not for the faint hearted, that want to do their regular 9 to 5 and go home. You have brilliant opportunities to do more and rise fast.
The good thingsIf you want to achieve things without being obstructed all the time, this is the place. Small Management team that takes care of the whole operations. Extremely approachable leaders all across, with good access to the Executive team. If you are on the fast lane, you will be noticed and given more opportunities too. I love the fact that if you take accountability, you can drive things with full ownership.
The challengesStaffing is always very short. I can't imagine how we get more done with the number of people we have. Burn out is very easily possible.

In my 15yrs of employment, If a difficult situation arose, resulting from either workplace conditions or human error, my extensive experience, reputation, positive attitude, ability to evaluate & troubleshoot, thinking outside the box, had gained me the respect of my Managers, therefore, put me in a position, where I would be the person called to see if a situation could be turned around- and I believe all situations can be turned around, I would then be relied upon to turn the situation around.
The good thingsGreat work conditions, Excellent work culture, Teamwork success & acknowledgment.
The challengesThere were no real challenges working for Yancoal. I did not find anything difficult, to speak of.

The good thingsI had a job.. At least a source of income but other than that I had no hope of moving into another role or progressing up the ranks.
