Not the best but it's tough out there
The good thingsCentral office location - easy access to public transport, cafes, and other city amenities. Great work mates – collaborative, supportive, and enjoyable team environment. Free public transport.
The challengesLimited career progression. Few opportunities for current employees to advance. Since the new franchise took over, there's been a noticeable increase in favouritism and perceived nepotism, which has impacted current team morale and fairness in opportunities. Salary is not the best in the industry.

I love working at Yarra Trams. Looking back, I wish I had made the decision to work for Yarra Trams years ago.
The good thingsSupportive colleagues, enjoyable environment, career progression for those who demonstrate potential, recognised for a job well done.
The challengesSome employees have a sense of entitlement, others are in denial. The need to adapt to many different individuals out of fear of offending someone.

A lot of good drivers and a lot of poor management.
The good thingsThe pay is good but not good enough for what you have to deal with.
The challengesThe management treats you as a number. No recognition for good work, just complaints for smallest things. No flexibility or real career progression opportunities. Driver safety is an issue that the company does the bare minimum to improve.

A satisfying job I love doing if you can avoid management and don't take things to heart.
The good thingsIndapent work day, Salary is good if you put in many hours, Depending on depot can be friendly.
The challengesManagement treats you like an enemy, toxic work environment, unrealistic running times, profits come before driver fatigue and passenger satisfaction.

Pay's well and almost required not to work hard.
The good thingsSalary is above average thanks to union, work load is very small. Learning lots of new skills.
The challengesManagement and internal politics. The older employees on the floor are not polite or helpful to new employees unless you've been there for a few years. Working hard will not benefit your experience here unfortunately.

Lots of driving; your career goes nowhere.
The good thingsSalary (the thrill wears off). Other drivers.
The challengesManagement talks all the usual game about diversity, inclusion and opportunities for progression but reality is once you are a tram driver, close to no one ever gets a chance to be anything else (regardless of their potential).

The work was rewarding but your not supported by higher management, higher management are self serving and blind to day to day problems, very high turnover of senior management, one needs to ask why
The good thingsThe work it’s self was rewarding, a commitment to upgrade infrastructure was encouraging after decades of neglect
The challengesStaff who are disingenuous and involved in malicious activities, unable and unwilling to follow policies and procedures, working in silos without support
