The good thingsYHA is a company that allows you to develop your soft skills, you are full of challenges that make you reach a good level if you are thinking of working with clients
The challengesI'm in Sydney Harbour and there are many challenges every day, but I feel the biggest one is trying to understand how you can manage frustration and do your best.

Great for international students who want something different!
The good thingsWorking with our diverse reception team has been a true delight. Coming from different countries, we bring a variety of perspectives that make problem-solving both innovative and effective. Beyond work, the shared laughter and cultural exchanges create a warm, familial atmosphere.
The challengesWe have to work twice as hard to provide customer service, as there are some frequent issues with the facilities.

    Unprofessional organisation
The good thingsThe people you work with on a daily basis
The challengesThe management is incompetent and the head office encourages inappropriate behaviour. Company has no development or progression, does not support their employees career aspirations.

It has been a fun and rewarding place to work
The good thingsGreat community - fun atmosphere. People are accepted for who they are and how well they do their job, not how well they dress or how cool they are.
The challengesNot for profit, so not a lot of cash. Hit hard by COVID and facing a major restructure.

Frustratingly disorganised with overbearing upper management, staff morale terribly low, with frontline workers undervalued or in some cases ignored.
The good thingsFree accomodation at other YHAs
The challengesMis-management most of the time and micromanagement the rest of the time. Head office run the show without taking any responsibility.

A better choice than a rigid corporate environment
The good thingsThe company values your hard work and a good work-life balance. You are treated like family while maintaining professional relationship with management and colleagues.
The challengesLoyalty is rampant so most employees stay with the company for years so progression is not as quick as you hope.

fun, friendly and fast work where you get to meet plenty of new people of a daily basis.
The good thingsManagement, hours and pay are good and it's a friendly environment with plenty of helpful staff and happ customers.
The challengesGetting rooms clean in a fast and efficient way. The amount of guest checking out on a daily basis always changes so some days you might be able to detail clean and take more time on task and others you'll be rushing around trying to get everything done in time. It's always different and you never know what the days gonna throw at you.
