The job was fun in the beginning until it became not fun with bad management. Management changed and it became great again, until they left and back to having bad management. Promote people left right and centre but no pay rises. Expect too much out of ki
The good thingsI liked going to work to see my team.
The challengesInexperienced employees in head office. Unrealistic targets to save money when it came to hours for staff. 1 person (manager) working at a time. Not ideal when there is lots to do.

Very good at the start, good atmosphere and good hours, suited uni well. Towards the end, terrible hours (hardy any) and very poor management.
The good thingsSome managers were very good and made it a great atmosphere. However other mangers were often quite rude and got angry over very minor things and actually gave me anxiety about going to work. So then I kept giving my shifts away which made that manager 'not trust me'. She needed to treat the employees better, not yell. She also couldn't speak english very well making it hard to work with her.
The challengesWhen it was very busy there were times when there were not enough staff, i was at the register serving customers and the manger was out the back on the computer so there was no one to help clean up or refill the toppings.

    It was a frustrating experience
The good thingsSalary was high compared to similar positions with other companies. Im guessing because they wanted to attract high quality staff. It was not a demanding job and there was no kpi or performance reviews.
The challengesThere was a severe lack of leadership and hospitality experience from the company directors. They dont handle criticism well. They were so preoccupied with opening the next store, that they neglected the stores that were already open.We had severe supply chain and iventory management issues. Our Accounting dept didnt know the 'cogs' and we had a marketing dept that wasnt allowed to spend money on marketing.

    A whirlwind
The good thingsThe people in my store are excellent, particularly those who have been there since the start. I'm so proud of my casual staff, they make for a really nice work environment where you can have a laugh & also get your work done.
The challengesTrying to find a balance between work and life is quite hard. The hours can be difficult given our long trading hours, and balancing that with university and family commitments can sometimes be hard. The work can be tedious and repetitive which can also sometimes be a challenge.

    No life, stressful.
    The good thingsThe product
The challengesUnrealistic expectations set on supervisors, there is no upper management structure, nothing is confidential so there is no support.
